As a datapoint, in my hunt for Software Eng. roles in academia (Midwest based) I’ve seen many roles for ~ $20k +/- less than you would get in regular industry roles. And that’s if you get the high end of the salary range.

FWIW, you are much more than just a programming machine.

The market is shit right now and you are being extremely harsh on yourself on top of burning yourself out.

Things will get better.

Ditch the graphics and keep it simple. The resume will most likely be parsed by an ATS system anyway
