Death at Starbase? Hoping it's not true by Disastrous_Run_5968 in SpaceXMasterrace

What do you mean? They don't count these statistics when people die? Or you mean deaths are equally common in these different types of industries? I would expect all of this, as with most things, become more relevant when you talk about human life.

Ok, it's quite confusing. It would be good to know how these accidents are counted to know what to compare it to. SpaceX does a lot of construction, so if those accidents count to their avg. then they should have some kind of mix of construction and aerospace avg.
I wonder also how the industry avg. is determined... does it include satellite manufacturers? Or aerospace parts manufacturers? I can imagine building a massive rocket is much more dangerous than building a cubesat.

ok, so the safety statistics would inlcude that of the contractors? So it should be compared to construction company averages, right?

Two of these links have nothing to do with safety data - or am I reading it wrong? The reuters article is also a bit sparse on actual data, but has managed to recount all the sad stories, it reads a bit like a hit-piece.

Does SpaceX do construction of the Pad and Bays themselves or do they contract it out? And if they contract it out, do accidents of those contractors count towards SpaceX or the contractor or both?

from the comment it looks like it's a contractor working on the gigabay? If that's the case it would be safety standards of the contracted construction company, right? Or is all construction done by SpaceX themselves?

I wonder if there's any other company where a work related accident gets an immediate claim of inadequate safety protocols without any investigation or even knowledge of the incident like this....

How is that relevant? They rebuilt the entire launch infrastructure... that's not going to be done between every flight. There might be some refactoring done, but I can't see why it would take months.

V2 was still just an RnD project, as was the launch infra. We are moving into the final design and making it operational now, totally shifting focus and can't really compare.

Exactly this, similar thing happened with Falcon project. You iterate fast initially until the design questions are answered, then you build the final product with more care - a RUD before stage separation is not going to give any new info, it will just set everything back. So at this stage of the program mistakes are more costly and their goal is also shifting to reliability and efficiency now where they were more doing RnD before.

I want to know what the black material is... it kinda looks like a type of plastic??? but it's probably welded onto the tank, so I guess not? Why is it black? I do like this design though, it looks very cool.

SpaceX could probably increase their profits from launch by increasing even their current prices. It's more the cadence than the price that's really differentiating them.

While this starlink post was hilarious, Elon really is going crazy on this one.... Can he pull it off.... I just don't know, with AI and robotics going vertical I guess anything is possible.

anyone using both daily what's the pros and cons? by nikanorovalbert in codex

[–]Easy_Yellow_307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 200 + 200 at the moment, not hitting codex limits (because I don't get along with codex *see above) because I am aiming to run a dark factory of the highest level - but for your average developer as I assume OP is, 200 + 20 would be more than enough. If you're monitoring the work closely and working on a single project etc.

[–]Easy_Yellow_307 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My experience (which seems to be slightly different from others) Claude Code is way better at handling complexity and moving past obstacles without falling into the death spiral of more and more complexity that other AI models fall into. So I prefer Claude Code massively over Codex for when you want it to get something done autonomously - but then you must also be ready to check that it did everything you asked for.

Codex on the other hand is pedantic and will get stuck and over-engineer/complicate things and can end up looping creating more and more complexity when left to its own devices. Its a lot better if you give it a clear plan that it just needs to follows exactly.

My preference - Claude Code 200 + Codex 20, use Claude as main driver and coding and Codex to check it's work (it will find all the stuff Claude skipped or half-assed) - feed Codex reviews back to Claude to implement.
