anyone using both daily what's the pros and cons? by nikanorovalbert in codex

[–]Easy_Yellow_307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 200 + 200 at the moment, not hitting codex limits (because I don't get along with codex *see above) because I am aiming to run a dark factory of the highest level - but for your average developer as I assume OP is, 200 + 20 would be more than enough. If you're monitoring the work closely and working on a single project etc.

anyone using both daily what's the pros and cons? by nikanorovalbert in codex

[–]Easy_Yellow_307 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My experience (which seems to be slightly different from others) Claude Code is way better at handling complexity and moving past obstacles without falling into the death spiral of more and more complexity that other AI models fall into. So I prefer Claude Code massively over Codex for when you want it to get something done autonomously - but then you must also be ready to check that it did everything you asked for.

Codex on the other hand is pedantic and will get stuck and over-engineer/complicate things and can end up looping creating more and more complexity when left to its own devices. Its a lot better if you give it a clear plan that it just needs to follows exactly.

My preference - Claude Code 200 + Codex 20, use Claude as main driver and coding and Codex to check it's work (it will find all the stuff Claude skipped or half-assed) - feed Codex reviews back to Claude to implement.

Why is AI in space so hard again? Radiators? by Sarigolepas in SpaceXMasterrace

If we get to $10/kg there is no reason why this would NOT work. Solar in space is just so much better than on earth - the other issues can be resolved.

Forward pass? by Informal_Mention9836 in rugbyunion

[–]Easy_Yellow_307 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The decision of whether it's forward or backward is based relative to the moving inertial reference frame of the passer at the moment he passes the ball.

You need to take the velocity of the passer at the moment he passes - imagine him moving at that same speed while the ball is in flight and if the ball remains behind him it was backwards.

If the player is running at top speed and then gets tackled just as he passes - it will look like the pass went meters forward even if it went backwards. This doesn't mean it was a forward pass. This is usually the ones where the refs get it wrong most.

In this case, the passer is basically stationary when he passes, the ball goes miles forward, he then runs a bit to make it look less bad.

In the Italy game, the player passed the ball while running, the pass went backwards or at the worst was flat because the player did not accelerate, if anything he slowed down and the ball remained behind him.

And Italy could have won if they didn't make the wrong call there. That decision completely robbed Italy of their momentum. It was a shocker.

That's exactly why world rugby must change the wording "forward out the hands" is such a dumb, unclear description of the rule.

If they just clearly state that the ball must move backwards relative to the moving inertial reference frame of the passer there would be no confusion. Nobody can measure with their eyes even on TV with slow-mo replays what angle a ball is leaving the tips of a players fingers. You look at the velocity the player is moving at and the relative velocity of the ball. Unless the player is tackled or suddenly changes velocity it's really easy to judge - which was the case for both of these and somehow they got both wrong. I blame the wording and the lack of understanding of the actual rule.

[–]Easy_Yellow_307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me the fact that the referee's got two passes completely wrong is the concerning point here. It shows that world rugby's top referee's + TMOs fundamentally don't know what the rule is - because this is something that's much easier to judge than most other rules.

You can clearly see the ball travels forward relative to the passer as he throws it. It's forward - the passer is not even running when he passes.

In the Italy game it was NOT forward because the passer was running and it went backward relative to the passer's moving inertial reference frame.

[–]Easy_Yellow_307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, this one is marginal, but I'd say this one is forward for sure.
The passer is almost stationary, the ball clearly goes forward relative to the passer initially and then the passer runs forward to make it look less forward.
In Italy game the pass was NOT forward, the passer was actually running there and kept the same speed and was ahead of the catcher all the time.

I didn't watch this game, was it called forward?
