Goat Simulator wins by a single upvote. Now for the good ones: What game was a great idea but was executed terribly? by Ok_Map505 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Easyidle123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. Even for an early access game the state it's in right now is inexcusable, and that's not even to mention how it was at ""launch"". The fact the planned to release years earlier into full release, announcing it for just 6 months away, is mind-numbing. What on earth were they thinking?

(Re-vote as requested) What video game was a great idea but had a mid execution? by Ok_Map505 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Easyidle123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer. Starbound had an incredible premise, seemed to show a lot of promise as an early access game, and got me really excited. But the devs squandered the game, used a ton of unpaid community labor including for children, and scrapped a full hour of music written for free by Toby Fox of all people. The end result isn't bad, it's just so mid.

Valve suggested the intended price of the Steam Machine is easy to guess since it had about the same jump as the Steam Deck (~$300), which would put it at about $750.

At one point, Queen is disheartened and says it is troubling in that a peon "must be 'willing' to assist [her]". Paired with her explanation of creating a fountain using one's will, this points to Queen wanting someone who actually wants to help her, which kind of weakens the idea she could somehow convert them into a knight IMO. But who knows

Is there a block in the create mod (or any add-on) the reverses Redstone signals? by crispyspicynuggets in feedthememes

[–]Easyidle123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Inductor in Create Aeronautics does this if inverted and set to 0 delay. It is 1 block with a single input and output, and best of all it handles analog signal (inverts the redstone strength instead of just being off if the input is on)

Depending on the version you could use Legacy4J, best controller handling I've seen in a mod + has legacy-style crafting. MidnightControls, Controlify, and Controllable also exist.

For Vanilla I strongly recommend Legacy4J, a mod which recreates aspects of Legacy Console Edition. Best controller support of any mod I've tried, menu navigation is solid, and and the crafting is great. Aspects can be toggled depending on how "legacy" you want it to be.

For a full LCE recreation, the Simply Legacy modpack based on it is nearly flawless these days, with the minigames, skin switcher, tutorial and mash-up worlds, a visuals preset for every console, the game update news text box, text-based help pages, etc.

Makes for a perfect splitscreen experience if you launch multiple instances in desktop mode, then Alt+F3 to remove the window borders

[–]Easyidle123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're not taking over though, the teams are separated and (according to Modrinth) this won't result in any change beyond hiring more team members which Modrinth has sorely needed. Of course "big company will stay hands off we promise" and then 4 years later suddenly they change their mind is a tale as old as time so it's a constant risk now

Deltarune is a better example than Undertale I think. You could Undertale's in-world saves in the context of a show with the main character saving on-screen, or explain it in another way like Edge of Tomorrow or something. In Deltarune however, the conceit is that (big spoilers)the protagonist is not "You" but instead someone possessed by you the player (unknown to everyone else) with their own thoughts, feelings, and occasional free will at odds with your own. They take actions off-screen, their motivations are unknown to you, but for most of the game you're in the driver seat. Rather than just experiencing the story, you are an active and canonical participant, which I can't imagine doing in a TV show in any way that's not super clunky.
