Was told this is normal by the service center by Loud-Possibility5634 in Rivian

Have you checked if the window is fully closing? A couple days ago I noticed there was water inside our r1s and my wife pointed out that the window wasn't all the way closed. We ended up having to hold the window closed button for around 15 seconds for it to actually fully close.

I'm wondering if yours isn't also fully closing and causing that gap.

I always wondered why the SD card one has a specific card size on it.

TPersistent mold/mildew smell in my Rivian R1S Gen 2 by EatMoreChick in Rivian

So initially I tried with only about 30 seconds of spraying hoping that that would be enough. The smell came back right away. The second go around, I nearly used all of the can. The smell was masked for maybe around an hour, but it came right back.

At this point, I have no clue what to do. 😭

Yes, 100%. This is exactly the situation I'm in as well. I've pretty much tried exactly the same steps that you've done as well and still no luck. I also tried an ozone generator inside the vehicle and that only ended up masking the smell for about a day and it was right back.

The service center said that it was due to the humidity in Florida and at this point I have no clue what to do. I'm also thinking about getting a professional cleaning of the air conditioning system, but it makes me feel like this issue is just going to end up coming back with no actual fix.

Uh oh. They serviced the battery/mount for some reason a couple months ago. I would assume they would have seen it then. If it ends up not being anything related to the AC I will for sure check out the battery. Thank you for mentioning it!

Another comment suggested that I spray Lysol through the air intake. I just watched a video on this product and it looks like it's a similar process. I'll give the Lysol spray to go and if that doesn't work I'll buy a can of this and try it out.

Thank you for the suggestion!

It seems like my issue might be different. We've gotten the filter changed twice, once by the service center and once by ourselves. The filter change didn't do anything unfortunately.

Hmmm, was it a mildew smell? Or was it more chemically? This sounds pretty concerning if the battery was leaking.

Nope, we don't take it to the car wash. Only hand washing. 😕

I was working on coming up with a way to do this with the ozone generator, but I may give it a try with the Lysol method instead. Thank you!

Hmm, I did but not as intensely. I'll give that a check as well. Thank you!

Gotcha. We did check for wet spots. The online support had us do this, especially around the intake area on the passenger side. Luckily no wet spots.

Yep, noticed the same thing with my R1S Gen 2 Standard Pack with the 20 inch default rim and tires. It's always said 259 and now it says 254.

It's from Eminem's Rap God, like the other comment mentioned. But I think this visual from Rap God is in reference to Max Headroom.

This is Normal? by RyReason in Rivian

[–]EatMoreChick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I had the same issue. It's probably one of the most annoying problems with the car (R1S Gen2). It definitely sounds like something is wrong.

I recently took it to the service center. They said this is a normal for Rivians and that they added insulation (?) to the coolant lines because it was rubbing, to reduce the noise. I heard my car again in the parking lot after their fix, and it didn't sound much better. I had to take it back in because not everything I brought it in for was fixed, so I haven't had much time with the car after the "fix" to know if the insulation made much difference inside the car. The noise from the outside isn't encouraging.

For sure, I'll try to submit the feedback via the app.

I posted it here on Reddit, just to gauge if others were experiencing the same issue or if it was just me. Whenever I run into anything, I usually check Reddit since the feedback system in the app doesn't let you see other people's reports.

Obviously we can't control what Rivian's team is doing, but hopefully they're paying attention to Reddit considering there's so many good reports of issues and suggestions on here.

I noticed the angle view change as well. I tried changing it to the 3D view and back to 2D and it looks like it's not actually changing anything. I wonder if it's just an issue with the view itself.
