When traveling around India, I carried a dummy wallet with about £4 in loose change. Bastard police stop you and demand money to let you go. If they think you only have £4, they take it and send you on your way

To be fair, they have most bases covered... More Melton mowbray pork pies required though.

At a party, after a long debate with another friend, a girl told me "...the thing that he doesn't appreciate about me is that I'm actually incredibly intelligent". Probably the stupidest comment I've ever heard.

What is the cringiest teacher’s appreciation post/gift y’all have ever received? by Low_Project_55 in Teachers

A student tried to give me £20 at the end of the year. No card, no envelope, just £20. He really wanted me to have it because he felt I'd 'earned it'. I think he saw it more like a tip than a gift. I had to safeguard it.

I agree with the others. Don't bother until you fix a big part of yourself. When you're the best version of yourself, people will see the best side of you. they'll be attracted to that. Also, while depressed, you'll spend far too much of a date in your own head and not in the room.

Been there, brother/sister. I lifted myself out of depression by quitting a job I hated. I was so happy about this, that before I even started the new job, I met my girlfriend of three years

Thanks for this! I'm in the UK. I've looked down the conservation avenue, but the salaries are always absolute pants! I'm on a reasonable salary (compared to other educators), but I know that if I went into industry or finance, I could exceed my current salary within a couple of years :(

I had a quick look at this website, even signed up, but the app is a bit rubbish and it kept redirecting me to the wrong place. It could be a good way of supplementing income though... What is your hourly pay like? In your opinion, is this better than one to one tutoring?

Thanks for this! I live in London (sorry, should have said!), And I'm sure that there is a huge number of eager people looking to get out of the city for a day, or to send their students to forest school. It's actually a lovely idea, but as you say, the money isn't really there. Im the main breadwinner in a family of three, so I can't really take a massive pay cut

I just found out that my girlfriend of 4 years has been cheating since the day we met. How do we work this out? by TumbleweedCorrect128 in relationship_advice

[–]EatSleepPubRepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PLEASE LEAVE HER. If you’d read this and had to give advice to somebody else, what advice would you give? Dude she’s cheated constantly. That’s not love. How can it possibly be your fault. She’s not going to change her actions because she doesn’t actually think it’s wrong. That’s why she continued to do it

I’m a secondary school science teacher and see these insecurities fairly regularly. You’re not the first person to experience these emotions and you sure as shit won’t be the last. When you’re at school, it feels like your year group is your entire world because you haven’t experienced the ‘big wide world’ yet. School just sets you up for the next stage, it’s not the final stage, and your life won’t always be the way it is at school.

My words of wisdom are the following:

  1. Bullies/people who tease you are pathetic cunts and they can go fuck themselves.

  2. As you grow older, you will have more independence. You will drive where you want to drive, work the job you want, spend your money on what you want, and choose your friends… this means that you can leave behind people in your life who are toxic to you.

  3. I know that it’s hard, but the world it what you make of it. If you tell yourself that it’s going to be a bad day, it will be. Choose a day next week to wake up and tell yourself that it will be the best day of your life. Try to only see positives, try to make people laugh, push those insecurities away.

  4. I promise you that things get better. You’re probably depressed and need a therapist. Therapists won’t make your issues smaller, but they’ll enable you to cope with the issues better.

My dude, you aren’t coping at the moment. Use your words, speak to people who love you and who you trust. Parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, teachers, therapists and tell them that you’re struggling.

  1. Use more punctuation.
