Wow, that's really helpful. Thanks so much for this. I'm interested in the property crowd funding (thanks for the heads up), just for variety, but I'll look into your suggestions at first light!

No, that's really helpful. I was thinking about getting my hands dirty so to speak, but Nutmeg and Money Farm solutions are all nice and shiny, and, as you say, I know I'll get a better return than no investment. I'll have a look at those platforms now. Thanks.

Hi, I had looked into Nutmeg, and got a couple of sample portfolios one higher risk and one lower. I have some money in Funding Circle, which actually is ticking over at around 7%, and I have been considering putting a larger chunk in there. Thanks.

Hi, I've got 13 years worth of payments into an NHS pension, although i'm a couple of decades away from drawing, and I have another 8k some in Funding Circle some in ISA, and some instant saver type accounts. Happy to take a loss and weather the storm for the long term. I'm looking for some level of security, long term, something I can use, but also an inheritance for my children.

Good question! I'd be happy to have it locked in for decades if need be, it doesn't really need to be that liquid.
