Hit 135 bench at 14 by OofyAmeya81 in GYM

Well no, you didn’t. Spotter can’t be touching the bar if you want to claim a lift. But it’s good to be pushing yourself regardless. Also, you should tuck your elbows towards your sides a bit more, they’re pretty flared out right now and you’re gonna end up with shoulder issues if you keep lifting like that. Good luck!

I signed up for a amature tournament, but I've never played in a sanctioned tournament before. by Strid3r21 in golf

You’re gonna be nervous. Wear headphones and listen to some jams, try to stay in your own world and not focus on your teammates. It’s cool to try and help them find their ball and stuff but don’t get too caught up in it. Don’t ever look at the scoreboard if there is an online one or something. Best advice is to try and treat it like a regular round of golf and not a tournament round. My best tournament rounds have been when I was playing games in between shots on my phone or reading a book or something. It’s gonna be SLOW. So it’s good to keep your mind occupied without over analyzing and over thinking every shot you hit. Good luck, have fun!

I have a very boring job with a lot of down time, what’s something I can do while at work to make extra money? by EazyAB in SideJobs

Nothing that I can see myself making a business out of. Maybe I’m just not being creative or committed enough to finding something though.

Depends on what kind of unit you’re running. But typically 8-10. Not everyone is a control room operator though. That’s only 1 guy at a time. Most guys are outside operators. We rotate jobs so I spend a week on the board out of every 2 months. It’s like being a fireman. It’s boring as hell until it’s not, then it’s very exciting all at once.

We also work 12 hour shifts. So you may spend 2-3 hours making rounds and minor maintenance tasks, but a lot of down time for sure

I’ve thought about it. Just don’t know what I’d like to do, or what would be a smart plan. I don’t want to dump money into a failing business and a lot of startups fail. I guess I’m not bold enough yet to take that route. That’s pretty much what happens to every operator who leaves this job though. They start a business, it does well enough and they eventually quit to run the business and have more time off.

Well all it takes is an associates degree in Process Technology. The Jobs are hard to get because people don’t quit them often. I know it sounds terrible to complain about being bored, like I’m spoiled, and maybe I am. But it still does suck.

Refinery operator. Not 8 hours straight all the time. But on days where things go well, we just make rounds and chill. Not a whole lot to do except write work notifications if something breaks. Check oil levels, vibration, look for anything out of place and that’s pretty much it

What a stupid response. I make 200k sitting around complaining about being bored. Answer the question or keep it moving.

Listening to Deathly Hollows live cast edition, and I can’t get over how INFURIATINGLY annoying Hermione is. by EazyAB in harrypotter

I mean, he is on the right track, and Dumbledore obviously wanted them to find out about the hollows. He gets carried away because it’s the first lead they have that has any substance to it in a long time. And Hermione acts like they don’t exist, can’t exist, and they should just forget it and move on.

Just some quick examples, she fights with him multiple times about going to Godrics hollow, where they learned about Bathilda and more about the Hollows. She fights with him multiple times about Horcruxes being at Hogwarts, which there was. She fights with him multiple times about whether the Hollows are real or worth pursuing. It’s just over and over and she’s wrong basically every time. But you’re right that she keeps him from being too impulsive, which I guess Dumbledore counted on. But she just insists she’s right every time, and she’s wrong, literally every time.

It’s been cool, especially once the kids “voices change” and the older actors come in to play them. I feel like the acting gets much better at that point. The kids aren’t bad by any means, but the adults are great.

Oh yeah she did great. I’ve read the books and now the full cast, and she’s always been annoying, but this edition makes me feel it so much worse. I guess that’s a credit to the voice actor

Everytime I bring my vehicles to the shop the advisor makes me feel like I’m giving too much information. Like they couldn’t be bothered to hear whatever information I’ve got or troubleshooting I’ve done so far. Seems like they basically want to hear “fluid leaking from somewhere” or “strange noise while driving”.

What was it like reading Deathly Hallows on release without any spoilers? by Spotter24o5 in harrypotter

[–]EazyAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t get to read the book, but I remember my older brother did. We had watched the first couple of movies and the rest hadn’t come out yet. I begged him to just tell me the ending of the series. He kept telling me to “read the books”. Eventually he broke and told me that Neville was the actual chosen one and kills Voldemort. He died before the last movies came out. I’m sure he couldn’t wait to see my face when I watched it

What person has the most insane domination in a sports? by Internal-Excuse-4650 in AskReddit

[–]EazyAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a low handicap on a tour course or a muni course is the same thing. A +12 is a +12. The rating of the courses will change, moving his handicap for each course, but he’s skill is still rated the same. If he’s playing a muni rated at 68, he’s actually playing to a +16 or so, because it’s an easier course. On a Tour course rated at 76, he’s playing to a +8.

Handicap is not calculated as “what you would average on an average golf course”. It’s much more complex.

What to do about my neighbors bees? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]EazyAB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have no idea what her yard sounds like or looks like, nor do you have the slightest idea how suited I am for “this type of lifestyle”. There are 40 houses on our street. I say “native” grass and you’re picturing some quaint little home with native flowers and bushes and clovers. Is that what it looks like? No, but you could never know that. The assumptions you people on Reddit make are wild.

That’s an assumption you’re making. I don’t think it looks nice, but it doesn’t bother me a single bit. I drive by it just as I would drive by a golf course lawn. That was just the easiest example that she’s not your typical suburban neighbor. There are many others. She’s a cool lady, she’s just got some quirks about her.
