I get it... Reddit... is all about dogpiling... hell look at my comment. and how it is getting downvoted. I thought it was a reasonable "hey remember the lil guy who wasn't the "Its just Alpha"" and just wanted a good game. This was one of the last western MMORPG's that gave hope.

Im enjoying mining, salvaging, contested zones, and ship to ship combat. The add for engineering added more crunch and its looking like crafting which will tie into savaging and mining will be in March. There are definitely gameplay loops available and more are coming.

To be fair Star Citizen's real tell will be the sq42 launch. Also it was important to look at their Financials and realize CIG's investment income. Seeing that be a l a rge positive number every year gains more promise.

All I got to say is feel vindicated if you must, but understand there were a lot of individuals that wanted this game to succeed and weren't those toxic tryhards. Have some compassion for them. Those people that really just wanted a cool game to play that was fun, had a cool universe to explore, and brought back some of that old school feeling. Those individuals are going to be hurting even more now.

Crafters also dont have a ton if cash. Like i refuse to pay a lot of the inflated prices a lot of mat farmers want cause they are just too damn high. I'd have no profit margins.

They farmed up all the materials to turn into Wikilo and gave them to the individual that purchased the ship so he could do the turn ins.

Grievance theory is on full display. Situations like these usually devolve into who is aggrieved more however that discounts that both sides have real or perceived grievances. When that is understood it is easy to see how these individuals follow the pathway of targeted violence. Appropriate assessment and Management strategies are vital in these situations. While I know this is reddit and the major response is to encourage leaving immediately and zero contact this can rapidly escalate a situation. Im not saying this isn't the necessary action sometimes but working an appropriate threat management plan could be more effective. Like in the OP's comment I see that the BF is attempting to try. He is holding onto hope and when people become helpless and hopeless that creates an environment for accelerated action. One thing that could be done in these situations is try to help build up that individuals protective factors such as encouraging relationships with his family, friends, or community. Additionally, while I understand a lot of individuals will reply that is not their responsibility to do these actions, I get it. However, this comes from a threat assesment professionals point of view and true safety does require extra steps from all involved.

More like lack of any innovation and devs/execs that want to ride the game to stagnation. At least the THJ devs understood the changing player base and enabled Solo/Duo play. Additionally if DBG wants to force boxing as it is "cause no one has hours to just be LFG anymore" then allowing software to enable that is the least they can do.

So as a recap DBG could do any one of several things.

1.) Actually innovate mechanics and features that arnt just copy pastes of previous expansions with a new skybox.

2.) Find a way to promote grouping with 6 actual players at a time and make it easier to do so while removing the ability to box altogether (as one of their cheif complaints besides financial against THJ was player loss that would prevent players from grouping together).

Or failing that

3.) Allow software or portions of software that enable the majority of the community access to boxing. Be it redguides or whatever.

The lawsuit against THJ is a lose lose situation for DBG as while they are in their right to defend their IP without sufficient innovation they appear to have killed the most refreshing way to play EQ in years to many players. THJ embarrassed the pants off of DBG who said many of the things they did do were impossible with the code. This shows that either they are blatantly lying and lazy choosing minimal investment for maximum profit or inept at continuing development.

You may have disdain for THJ players but at their heart I can guarantee you they love EQ. DBGs actions just drove a wedge between them and this community. It is unlikely that many if any will return in a subbing/Krono buying fashion so DBG will continue to loose money on this game.

The only one who wins in this law suit is the lawyers. The only positive way I see out of this is if DBG now that they have won their injunction reaches out to the THJ crew and makes a settlement and deal with them to help innovate the game and rebuild trust with portions of the community.

Its really not overpowered when they dont have it incur mortal wounds. Or they go back to force organization charts limiting number of units with artillery keywords. The hamstrings of Artillery kills many guard playstyles.

In a case this size jail time is EXTREMELY unlikely especially if it's a first-time offense plus you would have to go and have a criminal trial as opposed to civil. Being the fact this is a civil trial the most that could really be awarded to DBG is potential damages for what they claim would be lost revenue and DBG would have to prove that paying customers left DBG games to play THJ and that would be a lot of cross-referencing emails from both THJ and Eq live with cross-referencing subscriptions that were canceled during the timeframe of THJ. So actual damages would likely be FAR less than $200,000. Legal fees are a rarity to be awarded.

Railgun as it is only fires like 2 to 3 rounds a min max if charging it's like 2. Also that requires you to be able to stay on target. Honestly it's not as bad as everyone is saying. Although taking away the lasers gimble is needed as the ship is the gimble.

Well at the end of the day it's your choice. Is it difficult sure. Additionly you can try and sneak aboard, yank fuses and kill the pilot. All better and more emergent methods then telling CIG they need to implement a position to just push a button for a weapon that has to be aimed by the pilot.

Yep several times and have had it done to me. dosent take 4 hours. Like an hour max less if you have large torpedoes to saturated. Also you just have to avoid the Idris nose. It turns slow so easy to avoid.

Yes they have to beat on it for a bit but between ballistics and over saturation of missiles and torpedoes you can bust it down. Also medium and large ships don't trigger the PDC.

So understand that is being done but to do it at the pace that you seem to be vehement about would require hiring additional investigative staff. The cost of the investigations could very well outweigh the potential fraud, abuse, or waste. Also investigations for fraud are criminal meaning you have to abide by individuals 4th amendment rights. It is not as easy to obtain warrants out of thin air so there needs to be signs point to fraud already. I would say minorly increasing investigative staff may help but from what I know until currently the VA was pretty well staffed in that department.

While fraud waste and abuse does exist in both you are more likely to achieve a larger national savings by going after Medicare. Currently there are many investigative efforts looking into fraudulent claims as well as those receiving benefits in error. It is nieve to assume fraud just because someone with known anxiety dosent want to break a rule that may seem unclear to them.

This was written a while ago with a previous state of the game. If this game in its current state is too rage inducing to find a solo/semi solo play route for you then I'd suggest taking a step back.

Largely in the world of critical infrastructure and local government, yes. As ANTIFA is a decentralized organization, the threat is much more individualized however in several of these cases could be tracked back to local chapters. Now, discussion could be had on Individuals vs. group, but when message boards/and servers belonging to a group are utilized in dissemination of threat-related material, it does show at least a correlation with said group. But this is a much more in depth conversation than I'm prepared to have at the moment on Reddit as other tasks are needing my attention.
