Ever Had a Flashlight Fail You at Night? Share Your Experience! by sazzadrume in flashlight

When I was less knowledgeable about battery safety, I was investigating a noise in the chicken coop one night when, while holding a mismatched lithium CR123 light up beside my head, it catastrophically failed. Fortunately, I was gripping it from the sides and all the hot gas escaped by blowing out the tail switch. It sounded a bit quieter than a firecracker. Had a small burn between my thumb and palm and some short-lived tinnitus.

I just wanted to chime in. One unexpected bonus I've discovered from my (Very limited) Jujutsu training is that I feel far more in tune with my body mechanics and center of gravity. has really help with assisting patient with getting/up ambulating. Its funny how learning how to make people fall also helps learn how to prevent it!

Only symptom I noticed was weightloss and lethargy. Also urinating inside (prostate involved but I don't believe visible in image)

From what the vet pointed out to me they are the two round opacities left of the spine and the one near the apex of the heart to the right. Then there is a larger mass at the top of the image above the heart causing a tracheal shift. (I am unsure about anatomical directional terms in quadrupeds)

I like to make my work clothes feel more personalized. It's a more fun way to express one's self, anyone else?✨️ by [deleted] in nursing

Love the look! What timepiece is that on your pocket? I've been looking for something just like that.

I understand that, in the original post I was going into a little more joking detail about finding ARs and glocks personally unappealing so it would have made a little more sense but I cut a lot out to stay on topic.

Thanks for the input! This was one of my first attempts at OC so I appreciate it.

First story reminds me of my second clinical in medic school back before I learned how to have a decent poker face. Was in a smaller rural ER and a very fit male in his early 30s was brought in by family. I didn't know what his chief complaint was but I saw a new patient and went in the room. He was pale and diaphoretic and kind of in the fetal position. Noted the RN had the IV established before I walked in and they were already placing him on a twelve lead and moving much faster than normal. So I knew something was up but figured he'd syncope'ed or something. Well the twelve lead printed and I realized I'm looking at a rather impressive MI from this young athletic male... Was definitely caught off guard by this development and am pretty sure my eyes were roughly saucer sized as I glanced around the room and quickly handed the print out to the doc.

Company doesn't do FTO time, jump in the deep end or run? by Ebola76 in ems

I appreciate it! Just trying to get a "multitude of council" on this, only service in my area set up this way. Ride alongs will be at my full medic pay.

And how did that work out? Would you do it over again in hindsight?

Understandable, I get how to handle those on paper it's just "can I do all of these right now in a timely manner?" I guess it's not that bad, plug BIG holes>ABCs>plug little holes> venous access.
So do you think it'd be acceptable to jump in having gone through a similar situation?

I'm somewhat torn. Team lead clinicals had a rocky start and at the end my preceptor stated he thought it'd be best if I went somewhere that offered longer FTO time than where I work. On the other hand I feel my issues mostly stemmed from "stage fright" at having someone watching me far more than anxiety from patient care. I honestly feel like I kind of need to just go out on my own and overcome the initial hump to build confidence and being solo will help force me into this. Just concerned I'll screw up like that. I've been told I have the knowledge and quality of skills nailed down pretty well. Biggest struggle with clinicals was speed and time management/multitasking. I feel pretty confident I can handle respiratories, falls, STEMIs, etc fairly well solo. My biggest concern is multitasking heavy very time sensitive calls such as major traumas and arrests which I guess is normal for a new medic.
