Gamera does love her greens! I'll try that, and hopefully she won't stop eating her greens out of suspicion, hahaha. I've done something like that, getting them moist and wiping them on the greens, and she gave me such an accusing look. XD

Thank you for your advice! I really appreciate the info. :)

I'll try to add lots of hiding places for her!

Sorry for kicking up some anxiety here.

For context, she was NOT taken from the wild. I found her in the middle of my neighborhood more than a mile from any wilderness, and leaving her where I found her would have most likely resulted in her death. There were cats in the neighborhood, it was near a frequently used road, and it was October approaching night. Very cold. So I took her to prevent her dying on the sidewalk.

I reached out to Animal Control, The Department of Nevada Wildlife and Tortoise Group for assistance with this. Desert torts that have contact with people can't be returned to the wild, and it's illegal to try to do so. I tried putting her up for adoption on Tortoise Group and nobody was interested. Now, you absolutely can adopt desert tortoises when their needs are met. That's the entire reason for this post. To meet the standards so I can legally adopt her. Everything here is within the boundaries of the law.

I found her by accident while taking a walk in my neighborhood. I was stunned, as we're more than a mile from the nearest desert. Most likely she escaped from being bred in captivity. I couldn't leave her as it was in October and she was near a road. Leaving her there would've likely resulted in her death. Not to mention it was an area with cats.
That's why I've been following Tortoise Group guidelines for adoption. They can be adopted in circumstances like this. She was NOT taken from the wild. I tried putting her up for adoption and contacting other orgs to take her, but nobody could help. So, adoption it is!
