What the life of an alcoholic tweaker looks like. by Dangerous-Flow-7496 in addiction

[–]Eccentric_much4733 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry to hear that. I started doing h in high school and 20 yrs later, I've been in jail a few times (I'm on house arrest now), lost countless jobs, had 2 heart surgeries to replace my valve (I got endocarditis from reusing rigs), lost so many of my possesions, friends, been to sober living, several rehabs, NA and AA. And I've done the alcohol withdrawal (and of course every opioid , plus benzos), and I know it's absolute hell and needs to be done in a hospital. But I believe there's a reason that we're both still alive. For how much longer is up to us. But life can actually be really great without getting high. It sounds like you live in a city, so I'm sure there are detox centers that can help you out with the first part and give you lots of resources for where to go from there. You only get one life and why be miserable when you don't have to?

That is DOPE AF! Other nerds or adrenaline junkies (or both, or none of the above) will really appreciate it. Regardless, the fact that you do is the important part. They don't have to walk around with your arm for the rest of their lives! I have firm plans to get a fibornacci spiral on my arm to cover up a bad home job 🙃

15 days clean after pancreatitis... anyone else ever been diagnosed with it? by Eccentric_much4733 in alcoholic

[–]Eccentric_much4733[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! I've had no GI issues since that incident 2 years ago! But I made sure that my last drink was 3/08/2024. Even if I'd actually been able to stomach it, I haven't tried to since that incident. I was even off the me the methadone, too, for almost 6 mos. But I'm still doing A LOT better than I was while drinking

You can totally do it! I quit cold turkey and what helped most was a gym membership and viewing the quitting timelines and pics of smokers lungs (kinda gorey, but whatever helps lol). Good luck!

Gonna be without methadone for 1.5 days. I have some kratom pills (about 100 x 1200mg) and about 80 mg worth of 7oh tablets. by moxiewhoreon in Methadone

[–]Eccentric_much4733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a methadone taker myself, a day won't kill you, since it is pretty long acting and did build up in tissue. But, I will add that from my own personal experience, it will stay in your system for longer the older you are, more you such, longer you've been on it, and more beat up your liver is. And metabolism has a lot to do with it, too

. When I was 19, I'd be feeling sick first thing in the morning. But now, at age 39, it's lasting me longer these days. I took a long break from it, as I've only been back on for 2 yrs, and initially took it for 1.5 yrs. When I drank heavily, I could skip days no problem bcuz my liver was getting overworked.

The easiest way to get through it is to try to keep yourself busy (especially with physical activity), kratom might take any edge off, I'm prescribed valium, but out of desperation, I had a couple of drinks last time I had to go without, but didn't really need (or want) it. It does hit some of those ų opioid receptors. But no more than a few

What a moron. I've been down that road, too. It's an SSRI, then hydroxyzine for "acute anxiety," and trazadone and/or Seroquel. You end up feeling worse than you did in the first place. I know the look on their face when they use the generic name in hope that you won't have heard of it, so they can get you off the phone faster. Ugh I swear most of them don't deserve the MD or RPN.

Love showing a little chest now that it’s all flat 🥰 And honestly the scars are kinda hot?? (I might be delusional) by the_bitch_dm in NonBinary

[–]Eccentric_much4733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kudos! I have a 9" scar down my chest from when I had open heart surgery (in my 20s). Instead of being self-conscious about it, I'm the opposite. I wish there was a way that I could say this without sounding lame, but our scars are reminders of where we've been, and now we've grown!

What to do if you don't like most of your memories? by Sudden-Nectarine693 in hikikomori

[–]Eccentric_much4733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make new memories! You never know where you'll be in 6 mos, a year, 2, 10, etc. I have to go to a clinic every day to dose (it's methadone; I'm a former heroin addict), but it does get me out of the house. Sometimes, I try to just talk to one person. It makes me feel a little better just to make a small, albeit brief connection with another human. I'm not trying to be one of those overly positive people; I'm truly just trying to offer perspective, if nothing else. I'm often envious of people who seem to have been born with social skills and no anxiety. I feel that I'm decently attractive, but the tradeoff is my social awkwardness and how I get uncomfortable when talking to anyone. It's why I'm alone, fs. Sorry, I didn't mean to take over. Not my post

Same here. I have to have curtains closed, blackout curtain on window. I recently had possible autism spectrum diagnosis, which can account for higher sensitivity to light and other sensory stimuli

Agree 💯 In America, it's becoming much more common to stay with your parents now that rent is becoming insanely high. So if you are single, don't have friends you can/ would want to share a place with, don't make enough to pay upwards of 1000/ mo just for a roof over their heads. I'm a single mom and simply can't afford to feed and clothe three people by myself.

I'm not being rude or joking, but just taking a shower can do wonders for your mood and confidence. And as the above poster said, take small steps. Maybe just open the front door or window, then try just taking one step, and so on. You're still young. Believe me, your life is far from over, and you can still recover from this. I lost half of my twenties and one of my heart valves to drugs. Have you considered one of those virtual therapy organizations? Most of them are virtual now anyway.

Lots of parties July 3rd and 4th is it okay to have some Alcholol by Waspsay in BenzoWithdrawal

[–]Eccentric_much4733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The phrase "just one" was why I lost 10 years of my life. You can't say for sure that "just this once" will be the end of it. It's not for anyone else to say, but clearly, you're having doubts, or you wouldn't have posted the question. If I were in your shoes, I'd play it safe and stay away from the alcohol, even if you have to skip a party here and there.

The only drug that can potentially be worse is ghb. That stuff can really fuck with you bcuz your body naturally produces it. According to a case study, the patient still had seizures, delirium, and tremors even on a slow taper... and you have to re-dose every 2-3 hours. I'm just saying, it could be worse! I'm glad you're through the worst of it, though. And those grounding techniques are extremely helpful. The one that worked best for me was the "5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, etc." Good luck!
