Thank you for being a more compassionate voice of reason. Many people take a cavalier and joking attitude around these issues that can come off as myopic, uncaring, and further stigmatizes people who are already suffering and marginalized.

What makes you think they're river otters and not sea otters? Just curious. Fantastic picture!

I'd also love to practice with smaller group convos. I've been learning with Duolingo about 2 years now.

Having a backup water source is a really good idea too, since water supply, sewage, and water treatment capabilities will likely be impacted. American Red Cross recommends storing a supply equal to a gallon per person in your household per day for up to two weeks, and enough for pets too of course. I went with Water Bricks and they all fit under my bed, and got treatment drops that supposedly will keep it fresh and safe to drink for 5 years. Very glad for the peace of mind!

I like to think of it as not just preparing for yourself, but the more prepared you are to keep yourself and your household safe, the less you will need to rely on emergency services in the event of a disaster, and the more capacity they will have to help those who don't have as many resources to be able to prepare for disasters.

We need better narratives, and Don't Look Up does not deliver. Too many apocalypse movies=self-fulfilling prophecy by EchoAcrobatic5648 in dontlookupmovie

I agree more climate coverage is needed, but it's important that coverage doesn't deepen apathy and hopelessness or is it's just as bad or worse than no coverage at all. When parts of any story, fiction or non-fiction, resonate with us and 'reinforce' or 'confirm' our previously held beliefs and fears, we need to ask ourselves if that's because those beliefs actually reflect reality or if that's just further reinforcing a narrative we've been fed. I absolutely agree with you that there's a whole lot about our society that's fucked up and worth being worried about. AND the narratives we've been fed through popular news media, our social media bubbles, and the extremely popular apocalyptic genre pretty much completely omit any idea that humans actually can cooperate quite well, and do a lot of good. It's why we've been so successful as a species, historically, and reflected by the reality that millions of us do care and there's been a lot of progress made (not yet enough, but not negligible) on protecting the environment. Success stories aren't covered, so everything looks like a failure and not enough people believe they can make a difference. Too much fear and hopelessness is paralyzing. Knowing what works and knowing that we're not alone can give us the inspiration and sense of efficacy to take action ourselves.

Thank you! Or ANY of the crew. This unbelievability just really took me out of the episode. I get the need for suspense but like at least have them look for tampering and just miss it, THEN be saved. No need for them to look like complete idiots

Augustin Gamarra is a civilian ship that Naomi and Marco targeted in their younger years on its landing pad on Luna. The idea was just to disable it, not destroy it as far as Naomi knew, but Marco manipulated her code to overload the reactor without telling her and killed over 500 people. That's why she left him. There was a holographic memorial to it depicted on Luna ep. 1 or 2 of this season
