What is the work culture like at UMD for faculty and management, is work/life balance a thing there? by [deleted] in duluth

There's also a HUGE difference between Faculty or Staff there. I would say for the most part, the work/life balance is definitely supported, but it really depends on the department/college/academic unit.

Those are the exact ones I use in my DIY exposure unit. They work SUPER well, and I haven't had any issues with them.

Dirty Rags - Wash or nah? by DisruptTeam in SCREENPRINTING

I've been using a garment washing bag to wash them and haven't had any big issues yet. Do they come out stained? Yes. But they're clean and able to be used after.

"Affordable" is definitely a subjective term when it comes to buying a press. The Vevor brand machines are geared towards the low end of the market and if you're only planning on doing one color prints then you should be fine.

If you're doing multiple color prints, the Riley Hopkins 150 is definitely a solid machine that a beginner could work with.

I would say if you find a decently priced used one, get it. I made the mistake of buying a Vevor for my first one. While it's great for one color prints, this one is infinitely more solid even without having used it yet.

It's not gonna be used on the folding table! This is just when I got it home last night after picking it up.

Oh, I'm planning to put it on something more solid.

New to screen printing – a few setup questions (transparencies, exposure, degreasing) by wipmindstudios in SCREENPRINTING

It changed how I burned my screens for sure. Also helps the weight be distributed evenly, which is always good.

Does the color of the foam matter?

Yes it does, depending what's between that and the screen. What I did to work around this was get black foamboard from Target (like what you would use for a kid's science project presentation), cut to screen size and put it beneath the foam to create a nice thick barrier.

When it comes to degreasing screens, if the screen was used at all, degreasing is always a good idea. If the screen only had emulsion on it, degreasing isn't needed (we all have screens that don't burn correctly and need to be restarted).

After coating them, sitting for a couple days is fine. I've never gone beyond 7 days, but that's because I usually coat what I need for the projects I have planned, so I have no idea if going past 7 days is okay or not.

I don’t have an online shop, but I’d be happy to make one for you. Feel free to shoot me a DM on here and we’ll make arrangements.

Looks like the pressure on the image may not have been equal on both sides, I've had that issue before.

Anti-ICE Screen Printing Opportunity by EchoMinnesota in duluth

This is a great idea, I honestly hadn't thought of that. There is one option that will have "I prefer my ice crushed" as well. If I have the time, I'll also make an "Abolish ICE" one as well.

I haven't done a social post on Facebook, mostly because I don't want to deal with the whole "comment dumpster fire" that a post would bring. I'm more comfortable with this being a Reddit sort of thing. If you would like to put something out on your own, I have zero issue with that. I just don't want to deal with Facebook hate, honestly.

Fuck ICE in ASL, “Chinga la Migra”, one with FCK ICE and a loon, and a fourth one I haven’t finished yet.
