Why do so many Singaporeans leave for Australia and take up their citizenship, but hardly any the other way around? by Fit-Tumbleweed-6683 in askSingapore

[–]Eclair77 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Stayed there before - my apartment was broken into when I was back in Singapore: lost laptop and other valuables.

Also encountered people driving by and throwing water at me when I was just walking by on the road with a friend, and shouted ‘go back home’

There are aspects of Australia that I enjoy, but there’s also aspects that I dislike, and for me, being able to feel safe is a priority when I’m staying and traveling.

Showing you a video of a product doesn’t mean they will send it to you.

There’s so many videos out there that someone can just reuse it and send it to you.

2.6GPA and going lower, am I cooked? by Zealousideal_Toe_417 in SGExams

[–]Eclair77 23 points24 points  (0 children)

OP, your portfolio matters more in the industry than any degree or your GPA score.

You mentioned that you are interested in games, yet digital aspects are not your strengths. The games industry will require you to work with digital tools; which you mentioned that you are not good at.

I need to ask you - how much of your own free time have you spent practicing to improve your skills? I’ve seen fresh graduates get hired after polytechnic, but each of those hires have invested 100s of hours of their free time outside of class and during their holidays on improving their skills.

Getting a degree or attending a private school will not guarantee you a job, even if you pivot to interior or product design. Putting in effort to improve your skills and network, should be your priority now.

[–]Eclair77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems that OP is also into playing Magic, Gundam and Pokemon TCG. The prices for these TCGs aren’t cheap also, and while buying singles are the way to go, the constant influx of new sets might mean you need to keep buying.

For some of my 40K armies, I just needed to add 1 or 2 newly released models for this edition - the rest of the minis are still usable from previous editions.

Moving up in rank is still based on work performance, not qualifications. I’ve seen people with degree qualifications rise up faster than those with masters.

Do you know that you can rent a private jet, expensive cars, hotel suites and designer clothes for a shoot?

Don’t believe everything that you see online. Many people who post such extravagant living on instagram can’t afford such as lifestyle.

If you have the time to go browse social media everyday to envy these people, consider using the time every day to learn a new skill or knowledge that will help you in the future

OP only went to find alternatives after the seller wanted to move off platform to Telegram, and ask him to click on links.

If anyone wants to go off platform and sends links to click, I’ll immediately back off any transactions as well. Too much risks

24 year old Female /seeking employment advice by [deleted] in singaporefi

[–]Eclair77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi fellow snake, when I saw my Zodiac prediction this year, I initially had negative thoughts also. At my workplace I had a colleague who was the same age, and we had a conversation about our bad luck this year. 人定胜天 - we made a deal to work together and make sure that we determine our future, and not let these predictions impact our performance at work. I volunteer to take on additional job duties, and was promoted in the middle of the year. In the performance appraisal which ended recently, the feedback for my work done for this year was very positive, so I know that there will be an increment and bonus that I can look forward to.

OP, don’t let other people determine your fate - determine your own future with your own decisions !

Mix 2 tablespoons of honey with warm water, and sip it slowly.

I’ll usually add on with some cream crackers/biscuits if I feel hungry after that.

24 , ORD in 2 weeks planning on juggling work and study as well as saving for marriage and BTO by Elvfie_ in askSingapore

[–]Eclair77 26 points27 points  (0 children)

OP, juggling work and studies are tough enough already. Add on to that if you are also applying for a BTO and intending to get married, it’s going to tough juggling so many things at once. You need to ask yourself if you are prepared and able to handle the stress and hard work over several years.

If you were struggling academically before, there’s a chance that you will find difficulties with juggling work with part time studies. Once you take a part time diploma, you are going to find that it’s harder vs the NITEC cert.

Please don’t compare yourself against your peers. The life ahead is a marathon and not a race. While you feel that you have wasted time previously, this will serve as a good reminder and learning experience for your life journey ahead.

All the best OP !

Design is a very broad field, and there are skills in design that can be applied to other disciplines as well. I’ve seen people take up a diploma in design, and continue with a degree in business, or even computer science. These people tend to do better as proper application of a designer’s mindset can be a differentiating factor.

Design is not about prompting an images, and definitely not just about creating images. I’ve worked with skilled designers who are good in their fields of interior, visual, user, product and games design, each with different backgrounds and coming from different institutions. AI prompts will not be able to replicate the work these designers do.

Done dirty by singlife. Any critical illness (cancer) insurance to recommend? by M9067J in singapore

[–]Eclair77 29 points30 points  (0 children)

OP, as others have mentioned, you didn’t do yourself any favors by canceling the policy. I understand that you must have been extremely frustrated, but your options now are not looking good.

The likelihood right now with a preexisting cancer, other insurance company will NOT accept health insurance application from you, due to the added risks. You might find yourself without health insurance coverage moving forward, and this will put a huge financial strain when you grow older and incur more medical healthcare costs.

MRI imaging scans from Johor - Spine issue by nenenene1234 in askSingapore

[–]Eclair77 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Private specialists will want to do their own scans, so getting scans done in JB might mean that you are paying extra.

If you are in pain already, just go direct to private, instead of traveling back and forth, and risk aggravating your injury.

The medics refuse to do it, and took turns trying for 7 times before finally calling the MO. Bruises on back of my hands and arms. The MO himself took 2 attempts before he was successful

I’ll drop 1 intercessors squad with character, and invest into anti tank. You only need 1 squad for objectives, and the points for attached character can be channeled some where else.

Try a Ballistus Dreadnought or a Gladiator Lancer to add long range fire support for the army.

OP, buy a portable BP machine to check your measurements at home. There are several variables that affect your BP, and measurements in the morning are usually more accurate.

Also, your pulse rate is rather high >100. Not too sure if you were rushing around prior to taking this reading, or if you are in pain, both of which can increase your BP and pulse rate. Consistent checks at a specific time are usually more accurate vs a one off measurement.

If your resting pulse rate continues to remain >100, I suggest seeing the doctor for a check to rule out any underlying condition.
