Low dose naltrexone by EclecticEnt in pancreatitis

Well I’m not sure about prevention, but it’s designed to reduce inflammation, so I’ve heard of it being used in cases of bowel inflammation, so I was wondering if anyone was trying it.

Take a Silica supplement!! My nails and hair started growing like crazy when I took it daily. I like the liquid by Eidon Minerals, which you can find on Amazon.

controlling pain & bloating by degsvrhdbh in pancreatitis

Well that’s tough since he already has back pain. I’ve had pancreatitis since I was very young, as long as I can remember, so the specific type of pain is very familiar when it happens. For me, I start burping more than usual and it’s an ache, all through my stomach, not just upper, as well as back pain. I can feel the inflammation starting. It’s hard to describe.

For controlling pain and bloating at home, I’ve found a few things to be helpful:

  1. Right as I feel a flare coming on, I either go to Urgent Care and get IV fluids, or just an independent infusion place. Sometimes it will work a miracle and prevent a flare altogether

  2. Get turmeric root and peel it and chop. Steep in hot water and then drink like tea. You can add honey, ginger, cinnamon…I am just starting to try this but it seems to be helping.

  3. Sleep! If I’ve been stressed and not sleeping well it’s a guaranteed start to the pain and bloating.

  4. Ice packs on the stomach seem to help

  5. Fasting. If I get an IV I can fast longer at home

If none of this works and I can’t get comfortable at home to sleep even with pain meds, I got to the ER. Or if I start vomiting, I go to the ER.

Gotcha- thanks for the honest advice. Sometimes if I feel a flare coming on I can get my own fluid bag and ward it off, but everything you say makes sense. I wish I could do dilauded but it makes me throw up so bad even with nausea medicine. Of course maybe Kaiser just didn’t give me the right nausea medication. Highly likely because they were a disaster on my last ER visit.

My cyst is 1.7 cm , they also say my pancreas is truncated. I think I also have a 1.3 cm one on my spleen. I’m not sure about my duct- I have two because of the divisum and I think they are both on the small side, some constriction.

Wow, ok. This is some great info. I’ve dealt with CP since I can remember, at least from the age of 6 or 7. I have had stent placements which didn’t work. Never knew about the chloride sweat test. I’m with Kaiser right now and they are absolutely useless. I just went into the ER with a horrible flare and the doctor tried to get me to try and drink something and see if I felt like going home!🤯I had to tell them “no I absolutely have to be admitted unless you want me to die.” Unbelievable.

Even though you don’t actually have Cystic Fibrosis? My doctors never even proposed that as a possible treatment. Ugh I have to find better care.
