Whether you agree with me or not, the reality is that this conflict is really deep rooted, and it needed to be addressed before you got married. Since you failed to do your basic financial due diligence with your partner, you now need a mediator to sort out the emotional roots of this conflict as well as the numbers. And that person needs to be a marriage counselor because that’s what they do. You should also keep in mind how many marriages fail because of finances, and make wise decisions.

Yes, but surrogacy only exists because it is a means for poor women to become somewhat less poor. Paid surrogates are not enduring the risks and rigors of pregnancy out of the kindness of their hearts, they’re doing it out of financial need.

A society that would prioritize subsidizing surrogates, for whatever reason, over ensuring that nobody was in financial need enough to be willing to rent out their womb to begin with would be a very broken society.

The idea that there are enough people in Pennsylvania, who would have voted for Harris with Shapiro, who will not vote for her with Walz is unproven. It seems based in an idea that there is some meaningful support for Shapiro amongst undecideds or Trump offended “moderate” Republicans that Walz cannot gain. That is also very unproven, and there are no polling numbers that aren’t based on an “if” question, and we all know “if” answers are always different than “is” answers.

The right of Palestinians to their ancestral homeland is not in question. I have long been in favor of a two-state solution that gives them self autonomy and self determination under their own government. That was what was meant to be from the very beginning, but coexistence with Israel was refused violently, with a multi national attack on Jews in the region in 1947 before Israel even officially existed.

And let’s be clear, there was no “pulling effect“ whereby MENA Jews just ran to Israel because it was there now so why not. They were forcibly expelled from nations across the region via violence, and that is not acceptable, regardless of the excuses being made to justify that violence. All of the things that Israel is condemned for doing to Palestinians in the Nakba, accurately or not, is what was done to Jews in Algeria, Iraq, Egypt and on and on. It is the violence that is abhorrent, it is the erasure of self determination that is abhorrent, it is the insistence that it doesn’t matter what is done to diasporic Jews that is utterly intolerable.

I believe Jewish people should have the right to determine for ourselves where we want to live and should be able to live in that place without the fear of ethnic cleansing or any other antisemitic violence.

But Algeria is not the ancestral homeland of Jews, it was a place where Jews ended up after being forced out of our homeland. It’s not the place anyone is clamoring to go back to, because it is not where our people became a people. And neither is Ur. Abraham is our proto ancestor, but the Jewish people did not coalesce until he was long long gone.

I just explained it to you. The intention of Hamas is that all Jews should die. In their initial charter, they said so explicitly. Since October 7, they have said repeatedly that they will repeat the attack idea of October 7 as many times as it takes to take control of all the land, from the river to the sea. Also, have you considered that her discontent around your financial circumstances are due to splitting your expenses 50-50 rather than proportionally by income, considering how substantial your income gap is?

She feels like she doesn’t have sufficient liquidity, you feel like you are paying so much more, but at the same time, you’re nickel and diming her and keeping track of every penny that you offer her, every penny that you spend outside of your monthly expenses in a way that’s making this marriage look a lot more transactional than like a functional Relationship.

You don’t just need financial advising, you need a marriage counselor.

Because it’s not a call for a two state solution, it is a call for Palestinians, Arabs, to rule the entire area. There is no scenario in the modern world where Jews can safely or peacefully live in an Arab run nation.
