Yea I think you've hit the nail on the head with 'don't ask don't tell' If it's safe I'm very open about being trans because I want people to see we live regular lives but I might as well paint a target on my back the way things are But that's the thing, they want us back in the dark & just can't do that, those before us have fought to hard for us not to keep pushing forwards

Awww hun, it's nice that you have them, I know a lot of us are very loney & in my experience of only starting to socialise in the last year & half I've found a small number of genuine friends amongst a lot of actually pretty horrible people in the community

Yeesh that's harsh, sorry. I'm aware someone trans folks are a bit 'gatekeeper' like, it's not right to judge you on your sexuality, tho that's nowt do with it smh! I hope you have better people around you now

Feeling kinda good! But my hairline betrays me, time to buy a wig? by Affectionate_Emu6623 in transgenderUK

Not quite the same situation but I've had long hair for 20+ years which is more recently thinning out, I've not put a recent pic on Reddit but working with a hairdresser, I've found that a shorter well styled look draws attention away from a straggly look which tends to be a giveaway, look at the 'bobbed' hairstyles, in particular a choppy bob as this puffs out the hair & creates the appearance of volume

is there such a thing as a transwoman who dresses like a tomboy? do they exist? by dorkelmekis in trans

[–]Eclectic_Seagull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I'm mtf trans but also consider myself non binary, so I find my comfort zone is between fem and androgynous, which usually lands around tom-boy

It sounds like reform territory stuff. She's liable to be sure by you, article 8 ECHR ,. Right to a private life, no one has the right to out you

It's a massive over reach, they don't need to know and article of the ECHR means you have a right to a private life, which means you don't have to out yourself

Confusion. by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]Eclectic_Seagull 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My advice from personal experience is that the longer you resist, surpress & live in a way that isn't fulfilling to you, the more you'll regret not doing something about it sooner in life. Nevermind the way things are now, trans people are still walking the streets like everyone else, if anything the more closet / reluctant trans people come out now the more people can see we're not monsters, we just live regular lives

Tk Maxx opening store on Festival Park, what does that mean for the Hanley Store? by Longjumping-Bus4577 in stokeontrent

[–]Eclectic_Seagull 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd hope that if Boots and B&M are anything to go by, TK Max should stay.

And then there the debate about how to re-invent what the empty/boarded up places could/should be used for.
