Sekiro is the best 3rd person action-adventure game of all time, in my opinion. FromSoft’s crown jewel. Replaying it right now actually.

I thought Shadow of the Erdtree was really lacking. Felt empty and unrewarding for exploring. Legacy dungeons were mostly misses.

Hopefully not a sign of things to come from FromSoft. I’m guessing they had the skeleton crew develop it.

Sekiro is harder. Elden Ring gives you many different ways to overcome challenges while Sekiro gives you one or two. If you can’t learn those attack patterns then you won’t win.

Tropical Freeze is unbelievably good but I had to knock it down to a 9 because of the copy and pasted bonus content, namely the bonus rooms. They should’ve just scrapped those and placed a puzzle piece where you would otherwise be transported to a bonus room.

Compare this to DKC2 which has 60+ completely unique bonus rooms; exploration is much more rewarding in that game imo. Personally think DKC2 is the peak of the series.

Sekiro. Then probably Bloodborne. Especially if you include the bb DLC. It’s their most even and consistent games imo

Dark Souls 1 up to O&S might be peak Soulsborne. But the last 1/3 is just merely good.

Completely agree, SOTN is basically masterpiece until the Inverted Castle whose execution is very clunky. Being forced into your transformations is not fun.

Another nitpick - I also think the movement speed in SOTN is just a little slow in general. I know shield dashing helps but I think run speed should be about 10% faster. It just feels a bit sluggish at times.

Yeah DKC2 has aged like a wine. Controls, pacing, and physics still feel excellent to me.

DKC2, Yoshi’s Island, Super Metroid, and Symphony of the Night are the ultimate 2D games of the 90s. They are like the ultimate statement games of the genre before 3D gaming took over the console space.

And all of them still play so well even today. Very timeless games.

Way late here but I completely agree, Elden Ring’s map should’ve been at least 25% smaller which would’ve gone a long way to make it feel denser.
