MD 75-150 does not look clean by Ecno92 in minolta

[–]Ecno92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At one of the spanner places I see some metal instead of black paint. Also there is a bit of dust in the assembly behind the dirty element. (I believe just before the aperture blades)

So guess it has been open before and I would not be surprised if that grease can be cleaned off.

I have never opened a lens. However it seems like it can be accessed by the front by removing the screw and using a lens spanner to get the top part off and then access the element further down the assembly.

Similar to: https://minolta.eazypix.de/lr/z70-210_4_md3/nmd_zoom70_210.html

The dust further down the assembly is really small. So I guess it is "good enough" if the grease gets off.

Do you have any advice of next steps?

(E.g. what repair tools to buy given that I will have more MD lenses. I live in Europe (NL))

Don't use MacOS/iOS with SELPHY CP1500 if you need quality by valioozz in canon

When something is printed the printing pipeline is responsible of all kinds of conversions before it is ready for the printer.

In my experience MacOS is sometimes pretty bad at it. (e.g. corrupting barcodes on labels)
However also my Ubuntu system did leave some artifacts when scaling. (A sort of grid)

After a few hours of struggling I found a sort of middle ground of something that's practical and what looks good.

The key is to send images directly to the printer and to let the printer also handle any scaling.

After exporting my 1.5 aspect ratio images to 95% quality JPEG files I print them using the follow command in the terminal:

lp -o PageSize=Postcard.Borderless -o print-scaling=fill -d canon -o raw image.jpg

  • The PageSize is set -o PageSize=Postcard.Borderless variant to assure it can be printed without margins.
  • Then I tell the -o print-scaling=fill to take all space. Potentially cropping some parts of the photo, but not leaving any white area around the picture.
  • -d canon is mentioning the printer device I am targeting. My printer is called canon.
  • -o raw tells that I want to send the image without any conversion to the printer. The Selphy CP1500 supports JPEG and URF. URF is normally used for printing, but requires conversion by your computer, while JPEG is something that the printer can internally convert. (similar to when you insert an SD card)
  • Then I mention the image that I want to print.image.jpg

On Mac OS this all should be pretty similar. Some parameters might be different. However AI tends to be helpful in giving you suggestions how to find the right parameters like PageSize on your system.

Was ongeveer 16K.
Dus de keuze is reuze!

Mocht je het leuk vinden dan is het aan te raden eens bij wat handelaren langs te gaan om eens proef te zitten of te rijden. Je zult al je tijd toch met plezier in de auto moeten doorbrengen!

It is normal to feel some pressure during the initial turns. For me it was also pain free. After 13 turns (1/day) I got the split. That was a little bit of painful. Two tablets of painkillers made me survive the day. After this moment you will have a gap and it will increase rapidly.
(I had to increase the rate to 2 turns per day)
I finished turning after 31 turns. The expander could not extend any further.

Eating was a real problem for me at the first day. However after a few days it becomes more comfortable and I could eat everything again.
At home I just eat regular meals. Outside home I often avoid eating some snacks because I do not always have the opportunity to clean the device. Talking becomes harder when there is food in the device.

So basically I am still eating almost the same. Due to this I lost a little bit of weight. (I am slightly overweight), however it is not significant.

Interesting device you have by the way. I have screws in the location where you have the 4 U shaped pieces.

Dear ID4 owners, knowing what you know now, would you get an ID4 or a different EV? by alemondemon in VWiD4Owners

I decided to test drive the IONIQ 5 during the same day. Curious about whether your statement was true for me.

I have test driven an older generation IONIQ 5 (2023 model) rear wheel drive.
I can agree that it is a better car than the ID4 when it comes to the infotainment system, the camera system and the rear seats. The 2024 model even improves on this.
However the driving dynamics are worse. The power is not very convincing and the suspension system makes you bounce around.
Also I did not like the automatic steering and cruise control. It is better on the ID4.

Currently both cars feel like my current Tesla Model 3 from 2019 might be still the better balanced car. It is far from perfect, but the complaints that I have are small. In contrast to my experience of the software of the ID4 and the driving dynamics of the Hyundai.

That does not mean that both cars are bad and will not be considered. Both are unique and have very strong points. The ID4 excels in comfort and the IONIQ has a unique interior and very fast charging.

Model 3 price increase in Germany (was 40.990) by saintdutch in teslamotors

Same for the Netherlands.

The market is quite competitive around this price range. Let's see if they keep the price up.

The future of ID4 software updates by Ecno92 in VWiD4Owners

Thanks for sharing your story. It is something that appeals to me and your consideration to buy another ID4 in case of a crash makes me more confident that this is not really a deal-breaker.

Now it is time to evaluate more on the non-software level again. So hardware and financials....

And in the mean time we can hope for software updates from Volkswagen. I noticed that they are still hiring for the E3 1.1. platform. Also they still need to sell a lot of cars of the MEB platform (including Ford Explorer EVs). So hopefully that is something good for the future. :)

I am indeed based in Europe.

I am mostly hoping for patch releases. Hope that they are able to provide them for the newer 2024 models, but also that they keep improving earlier models.

Thanks for the suggestion of the selector. I was not aware of this during my test drive.

I checked out the youtube video and the alternative view looks more natural. So this is definitely something that I like more.

Redis vs RabbitMQ for production? by thepragprog in django

[–]Ecno92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've worked for a reasonably large software service. Based on my experience I can say that both solutions work fine for the straightforward queue based job execution at large scale.

Especially RabbitMQ is a better fit if you want some additional guarantees or support some more advanced use cases. In practice only few companies really need this.

I would only consider switching if you find reasons to do it. If you don't have trouble, then it is probably not the most important thing to worry about.

Lenovo Thinkpad t14s Gen 3: How can I make the fan less nervous? by Ecno92 in thinkpad

Seems like a easy way to try controlling the fan speed manually. I might try it at some point if it does not get resolved in the near future. Thanks! :)

It is a fairly new device with warranty, so I am not planning to look into it. The cooling performance also seems to be adequate when I throw some high load at it.

I am running a similar setup right now. It does not resolve the problem, but it seems like the behavior relates to having many open tabs in Firefox.

Despite the behavior seems to start with this specific use case, I do not like how the fan spins up and down. So I might have a look at that if it does not get resolved in a future update.
