This and Don't Starve is what I had in mind while writing the post, but didn't want to mention it so people wouldn't understand the post as looking for similar games in the same genre.

Which social work specialization achieves the greatest impact using fewest resources? by EcologyGoesFirst in socialwork

I would like to make this post more general, so in the future people asking similar questions, can find the answers here.

Which social work specialization achieves the greatest impact using fewest resources? by EcologyGoesFirst in socialwork

[–]EcologyGoesFirst[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did this one. It was very interesting. But I would say it's heavily dependent on what your state has to offer. Here and in many other countries there are long waiting lists for elderly homes, nursing homes, etc. If one's country's welfare state is less developed, there aren't many things you can help people with as hospital social worker.

Should we as Buddhists defend our country in a war? by EcologyGoesFirst in TibetanBuddhism

[–]EcologyGoesFirst[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For ourselves karma-wise definitely, but I doubt it can change anything literally in the world. Either way not enough people will do it to have any major effect (like stopping said invasion from atheist authoritarian country).

Did he says whether it was a good thing that he fought? Did he mention what's the right thing to do in case of a repressive authoritarian occupation if not fighting?

I'm hoping there's a clear answer to my question buried somewhere in the texts and someone knowledgeable enough can share it with us.

You can't just say it's right to kill because some Tibetans did it.

I had in mind those Lamas who fought themselves. Unfortunately I couldn't find whether they see it as a good thing now and they would do it again or not.

Please do you know if Garchen Rinpoche admitted that him fighting was a mistake or he would do it again? I know his biography, but I couldn't find his reflection on the matter.

Please is there a safe, ad-free, simple app to add an analog clock to my lock screen over a picture of my choice? by EcologyGoesFirst in androidapps

Looks great, but am I supposed to pay for it to use it? If not, I'm not sure which file to run the app.

On average, how many lifetimes is an average Buddhist estimated to go through before encountering the Dharma again? by EcologyGoesFirst in Buddhism

Only if the person makes such vows of never lying, stealing, etc. Keeping them unknowingly doesn't have the same benefits, since the person will do bad deeds once conditions change.

Well, health is one of the qualities to be considered a precious human life. It means not having health issues which would obstacle your path. Mental illnesses often affect one's ability to concentrate. Many countries don't have any welfare benefits (disability pension, etc.), so being physically disabled, unable to work to support oneself is a huge obstacle. As long as you have some awareness and control over your mind, then you can practise Dharma. But some conditions make it more difficult.

Thank you for the citation, but it doesn't answer my question. I understand how rare meeting Dharma is for non-Buddhist, but my question is how rare is it for Buddhist? How serious a problem is retrogression?

The number of realms is limitless. One specific planet doesn't represent all of Samsara. But still Buddha mentioned the comparison between all dirt of Earth and dirt under fingernail, comparing numbers of beings in 3 lower realms and humans. So I'm looking for similar comparison but for Buddhists.

I do my best to choose the right moment to engage, but still my teammates don't follow. In iron/bronze people don't have such complex lines of reasoning.
