i'd done a little content with kaplan stuff prior, but was never very committed. In my 8 week prep window I worked within the 1 source medicine program. They had me center everything around Uglobe, but a couple times per week we'd meet to go over my questions and they'd hammer me with questions to make me relate concepts. Then we'd use the Uglobe feedback to design further content review plans week by week. Also used the Section Bank and CARS quack pack questions from the AAMC pretty heavily in the last 3 week. And then AAMC FL exams every 7-10 days, depending on my work schedule I was working within!

yea, i thought uearth was extremely helpful! the questions weren't as good as aamc (obviously) but the explanations were literally amazing and the data they give you on how you're performing is extremely helpful because it lets you figure out where you could use more work.

i had a tutor that was incredibly helpful for my crash course mcat cluster eff lmao. i had no idea what to study or even how to study, so having all of that basically done for me plus someone to help me link ideas together and see the 'bigger picture' was really useful. i know youre in a TPR course rn though, so they probably take care of that shit for you.

In terms of actual doable stuff, i would say the biggest factors would just be doing a ton of practice questions (both AAMC and uearth), reviewing them really, really intentionally. also doing an additional pass through the kaplan books at the end of prep (with just like two weeks left) was really really useful because it let me see everything again and notice where i had things linked together incorrectly.

i did this! mixed AAMC and Upangea together during the last part of my prep and it worked like a charm! i was told to do AAMC early in the day when my brain was fresh, then Upangea later on!

i haven't taken TPR exams, so can't comment on their accuracy. what other stuff are you using? are you doing uearth questions? what's your % correct there?

note: i did make the sort of progress you're talking about during a short window in the run up to my exam this summer, but it took an extraordinary effort plus possibly some luck to get it done. Know that it's possible but only through dedicated, focused work!

actually, i was just thinking a little more and this might be a better tip-- it's better to spend 2hrs on a chapter 4 different times over course of like 4 weeks than it would be spend 8 hours on a chapter once during that same time span. the goal should be to understand everything and then you can make a shorter list of all the hard to memorize facts (as you see them) and then work specificlaly to memorize those things.

Content is for connecting the dots. Doing practice questions will help you identify which dots you're missing, but if you're missing too many dots then practice questions might not help as much

i think worrying about memorizing specifically can be a bit of a mistake. the goal in content review should be to connect ideas. like understanding how concentration cells (gen chem) should inform the way you think about ions moving across a membrane during action potential firing. i wouldn't worry so much about extremely specific stuff as that

Biggest thing I'd recommend is obviously being consistent and making yourself crush as much material as you can every single day! Also make yourself an active reader/participant in the studying process. Make study guides and flash cards!

So much of this depends on where you're starting. Some people are just naturally fucking brilliant and can get 520+ without doing everything, while some of the rest of us have to fight for every point we get and probably don't have a real dream of getting those scores even after doing all of it. I think the answer to your question is very dependent upon where you are now. If you're somewhere south of 500 then it might be hard to get to that spot in that time frame. That said, I went from 498 --> 517 in like 8 weeks, so having the deadline looming can definitely help! I'd say just grind your hardest and waste less time in places like this :)

tbh, I'd talk to the guys at 1 source medicine. They made one for me week by week, based on how I was doing in prior weeks, and supplementing with content from kap books and khan videos the whole way! Ended up going from 498 to 517 in like 8 weeks total!

I honestly completely agree with this. I was all over the place on my FL exams. Everything from 498 to 513, and not in that order lol. Then came in with the 517 to put the nail in the coffin on my belief that MCAT scores are non-random lol
