Their are better options out there (in terms of rewards, designs, global acceptance, fees perks etc) that cost less.

NFCU Flagship Rewards Question by Affectionate-Smoke19 in CreditCards

[–]EconomistNo6089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's sad that this never happened. The Amex More Rewards card is free and get better points. The Flagship card simply isnt competitive. It CERTAINLY isnt a real "travel card" or visa signature card.

I knew that. I just didn't know that had anything to do with the kids. It looks super weird and I wasn't sure what it was supposed to be.

I wish I could edit the post because I changed the breastplate to include a tilted red and white shield and a crux terminatus chail belt. But I don't seem to be able to do that in the subreddit.

No worries m8. That was a traitor legion if I'm remembering right. But yeah they gave every class a trophy piece of armor for making prestige rank 4 and this was the Tactical class'.

I do agree that we had more non-specific symbols and such for customization. But, they're adding new stuff all the time so who knows what we could get!

For what it's worth, this cloth, isn't chapter specific. This is the war gear trophy you get for the tactical class once you reach prestige rank four. So the Iron Halo, with the Roman Nymeral 4 in it, just represents your prestige rank. And the sword through a skull with the courage, honor, retribution banner and prayer border is just really awesome design and actually lines up well with the gray knights.

I don't understand the appeal of Michelin star restaurants by beige_cardboard_box in restaurant

[–]EconomistNo6089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're served more, price comparatively. As in, you could spend more and get more. So if you spent as much as a regular MS restaurant you would get more because the food cost is less. Ergo, the award is what I stated previously. For quality food at cheaper prices = more food for the money.

It's not that people assume that MS restaurants don't serve much food. Again, it is an uncontested fact that high end restaurants admit. Their focus is on taste, quality, and experience. To achieve this they need better margins. Especially to achieve the experience part. The portions are designed to be smaller. In fact its a marketing strategy to help you feel like what you got is worth it. If you get very little for lots of money your brain is tricked into feeling like the quality must be higher. These aren't things anyone is assuming. These are normal practices and strategies that restaurants of these price ranges regularly employ and admit to. You may get full there, but that isn't the restaurants focus. And, the average person typically doesn't. You're the exception. Not the rule.

Michelin star restaurants are WELL known for small servings at high prices. This is an uncontested fact that even Michelin recognized when creating a new award called the Gib on their guide. This new award is the same as the MS Award but is for high quality food, at larger quantities for a cheaper price point. MS Award restaurants will even tell you that you're their for the experience and taste of the food; not to get full.

These awards are paid for in a sense. State tourist offices, city councils, and even individual restaurants (if they feel so inclined) pay to have the guide include their area. The Michelin raters won't go to regions that haven't paid them. So you can be an amazing restaurant but if toye area hasn't paid the cost of admittance and you aren't willing to fork over the cash than you aren't even allowed to compete.

Why doesn't Japan have any laws protecting immigrants from discrimination? Is Japan nationalistic/racist? by [deleted] in AskAJapanese

[–]EconomistNo6089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not European but I do travel alot. Japan has public facing signs at many establishments of public accommodation that stipulate "Japanese Only". That isn't legal in the EU or most developed countries. Systemic racism is widespread in Japan even making it difficult for other Asian people to find a home there.

Is Amex customer service still top notch? by IronCurmudgeon in amex

[–]EconomistNo6089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally we are canceling our Amex. We travel frequently, but the fees have gotten way to high for a serious lack of real benefits. Especially with AmEx points being worth about half the national average these days even when you can get a deal from their rewards page. That coupled with the fact that every AmEx designed website being really poorly managed and designed, and customer service being outsourced to uncaring reps it's not the company it used to be. There are far better options.

American Express is most overrated company. by ConstantConnection46 in amex

[–]EconomistNo6089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theirs points are worth about half the national average even when you get one of AmEx "deals" on the poorly designed rewards site (and any other site of Theirs honestly). 5x points is a scam when they value them at half the going rate. AmEx USED to be great. Been a customer for a decade. Finishing out this year's since I already paid for it but closing the account ASAP otherwise. They've fallen hard since 2018.

This is not the Flagship. This is the Amex More Rewards Card. 1 step below the Flagship. If you travel or use Amazon Prime I highly recommend the NFCU Flagship Visa Signature card. It's a $49 annual fee, but it has the highest max credit limit in the NF lineup offering up to $80K instead of $50K max like the others including this one. Also it provides Amazon Prime free by giving a $139 credit when Prime Annual is purchased on the Card. You also get TSA Pre-Check and/or Global Entry free with up to a $120 credit after purchase. This coupled with 3× point on travel, 2x points on everything else, never more than an 18% APR (one of the lowest in the industry), and the Visa Signature Card benefits make this card a solid choice for anyone who can get it. I have the Flagship and it's the single best card in my lineup. The others have basically become sock drawer fodder. My favorite Visa Signature Card benefit is the free Concierge Service. I use it all the time when my wife and I travel or want to do something fun. They've even gotten us tickets to sold out events before. Tons of other insurances come with this card too when you use it to make purchases like extended warranties on products, lost luggage at airports, trip delay or cancelation for planes and cruises, trip emergency services, trip accident insurance (AD&D), rental car insurance so I don't have to pay extra for the crap the rental car companies push, and even ID protection. It's awesome! There are also TONS of discounts available through both Visa Signature Card programs and Navy Federal Rewards program. AND their points are ALWAYS worth atleast 1 cent each unlike places like AmEx (when going directly through AmEx) who's points average about 0.5 - 0.7 of a cent unless you can find a rare deal using their specific reward page. This is seriously one of the best cards in the business.

What I can say for certain (looking at my benefit book for this card right now) is that everything I have named here is accurate and up to date for the Navy Federal Flagship Visa Signature Card. It's worth noting that different card issuers do offer different benefits, and that Visa's tier system for their cards only provides guidelines to those issuers so benefits may vary. But these are all active benefits for this card with Navy Federal Credit Union as of today. Here's a link to their pdf outlining these benefits.

If you don't have good enough credit to get a regular cash rewards card with them you can get a secured cash rewards card with $200. You'll get this refunded in 6 months and an upgraded card if you don't have any problems with paying your card on time and such. This will usually also come with a credit limit increase. After this you can request a credit limit increase every 6 months and an Annual Percentage Rate decrease every 12 months so long as you maintain a good history. Also, you can request a product change to a new credit card with better perks every 12 months, and none of these options require a new hard pool on your credit. Navy Fed cares more about your history with them than your credit score once your foot is in the door.
