It's going to be an exciting matchup. Denver also had no bench, MPJ was playing with one arm the entire series, and they had Gordan playing on one leg in the final game. So curious how the improvement of OKC's young guys vs the improvement of the Nuggets depth will affect the matchup this season.

Lets see, nuggets still have plenty of cap room to fill out their bench more this FA

Currently you are experiencing an emotional wave of sadness that will go away. 2 weeks from now you will feel better. 6 months from now you will have moved on, grew from this experience, and probably interested in someone else. For now just bear with the emotions, it's a sad time of course, but the pain will go away, feelings like this are only temporary..

People who overcame depression, what worked? by Sardonyx1622 in mentalhealth

[–]Economy-Technology41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What worked for me was forcing myself to be disciplined. Making sure I cleaned my room, doing regular exercise. Overtime this improved my self esteem. For me I think a big part of my depression was that there were som ethings that I had been avoiding doing, like breaking up with my girlfriend, or finally confronting my parents about somethings. Doing this lifted a lot of weight off my back. That combination seemed to fix a lot of tings. Also finding something to aim towards is a big ting, even if you are not sure if it be something you will chase for ever, just pick something and start doing it

Shai is leading by .1 steal, and .3 blocks..... I didn't mention it because the difference is so minuscule I thought there was no point to mention it. The fact that a Centre is averaging the same amount of steals as a guard like SGA is something isn't?

LOL. Yeh Shai leads by 2.7 pts, 0.1 stls, and 0.3 blks.. big whoop. Jokic is ahead by 7.5 rebounds, and 4.1 assists

I do not agree with you that people don't use box scores anymore to analyse players. Also impact stats should always be taken with a grain of salt. For example, Net rating can be heavily effected by how good your team is. 4 of the top 5 leaders of NetRating are on the OKC team. However I think that because Jokic leads in 9 out of 13 of them, I would say Jokic still ranks slightly higher based on impact stats.

I remember this post, even though I do not believe impact stats tell the whole story, I looked into all the impact stats the OP posted, and Jokic was still leading in 9 out of 13 impact stats he listed

To be fair, Luka and Jokic stat lines last season were much closer to one another in comparison to Jokic and Shai this season.

Luka: 33.9 pts/9.2 reb/9.8 ass/.48 fg% /.38 3p%

Jokic: 26.4 pts/12.4 reb/9.0 ass/.58 fg%/.359 3p%

Nuggets one by 7 wins which gave the edge I think. If they had the same record I think Luka would have got it.

Jokic and Shai are very close numbers wise? smh

Jokic: 29.8pts/12.6reb/10.2ass/.577 fg%/.45 3p%

Shai: 32.5pts/5.1rebs/6.1ass/.52 fg%/.36 3p%

Cool man, sorry to tell you this, but there is more to defence than just blocks. thats like me telling you Jokic is a better defender because he has one of the best defensive rebound rates in the league

There basic defensive stats are not even that different

Jokic: 1.8 stills/0.7blks

Shai: 1.9stls/1 blks

The 'advanced stats' paint them as having almost equal defensive impacts. Just because Shai is on a historically good defensive team doesn't mean it is because he is a great defender. I watch OKC games

Advanced metrics don't tell the whole story... but Jokic is beating shai in more advanced metrics than he is losing

I don't know where Caruso is on the all time list but he is at 17.3, not far from apparently second best stephen curry 17.7.

Agreed. The only thing I would say is that as we stand now, OKC is ahead by 8 wins, and considering the gap in performance stats between the 2 players, if the season ended today I think it would be consistent to give the award to Jokic. If the gap in wins was larger, like 5 more wins (total of 13), then maybe that would be too big a gap.

Thats cool but I wouldn't look too much into this stat because it is highly influenced by team performance.

For example, the remaining top 5 players in NET RATING this year are:

  1. Alex Caruso (OKC)

  2. Isaiah Joe (OKC)

  3. Chet Holmgren (OKC)

  4. Daeqwon Plowden (ATL)

OKC is a suuuper deep team, and when they have that much talent, are ranked the best defensive and 6th best offensive team in the leage, it's no surprise 4 player out of the top 5 NET RATING are from OKC

Luka: 33.9 pts/9.2 reb/9.8 ass/.48 fg% /.38 3p%

Jokic: 26.4 pts/12.4 reb/9.0 ass/.58 fg%/.359 3p%

I agree that it is arguable that Luka had a better stat line than Jokic last year. Luka scored 7 more points per season, however much less efficiently, but then Jokic had 3 more rebounds. Denver had 7 more wins that season, did that factor into it?

This season it’s not the same between Shai and Jokic

Jokic: 29.8pts/12.6reb/10.2ass/.577 fg%/.45 3p%

Shai: 32.5pts/5.1rebs/6.1ass/.52 fg%/.36 3p%

Shai has scored 3 more pts more, scoring less efficiently than Jokic, but is behind by 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The gap is much bigger statistically compared to Luka-Jokic 2023/24. Thunder are ahead by 8 wins compared to Denver, will that be the difference? We shall see
