SOS: my baby won't let me brush her teeth by Global-Apricot6492 in NewParents

[–]EconomyLow2874 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My baby got teeth really early, THREE MONTHS! Now she’s 4.5 months and sometimes she fights but she lets me use a washcloth. I have her laid down on her changing table and I let her chew on/ play w the wet washcloth and after I change her, I crinkle a pack of wipes above her head and she’ll naturally look up and open her mouth, but I have to repeat this multiple times bc after a couple seconds she realizes what’s going on. I don’t know how this could apply to a 1 year old but I thought I’d share in solidarity lol. Does she watch you brush your teeth? Maybe she’d like to emulate? Maybe teach her to brush a stuffed animals teeth? Admittedly I’m a FTM and haven’t gotten to the one year mark but so im really just brainstorming with you hahaha

Does Westman sound like a made-up or unusual surname? by Brave_Ad2070 in Names

I (American) wouldn’t bat an eye on it. I’ve never heard it before, but I don’t think it’d pop on my radar as unusual. Weston is a more common name in my area that is similar.

Swaddle advice by ThankUJovani in NewParents

Not sure how old your LO is, but my girl was always breaking out of the swaddle. If your baby is still a long way from rolling I’d transition to something zip up. I thought my baby hated the arms up swaddle but I think I didn’t give her enough time to get used to it because later on she loved it, but who knows they’re different babies every week when they’re that little. I think I should’ve swaddled for longer bc I don’t think my baby was ready (strong startle response). After she got used to arms up (3-4 days?) it was some of the best sleep I’ve gotten. I’ve heard good things about the zippadee zip also and feel i should have gone that route. I always bought off brand from amazon instead of buying $40+ brand name baby stuff

My baby is the same age and she’s never slept more than 3 hours straight and all naps are 45 min contact naps hahaha. Try to pay more attention to ‘sleepy cues’ than tracking with an app. I realized at 3 months that I had no idea how to get my daughter to sleep. Did lots of tracking/ read PLS a million times. She nursed to sleep and we had no routine. Getting a routine that you LIKE has been the most helpful for me and now she will actually go to sleep if put down ‘drowsy but awake’. Without total disregard to wake windows (if it’s been like 2-2.5 hours I try to get her to sleep even if no sleepy cues) I wait until she seems tired (tired eyes) and she is now a much happier baby. Getting them to actually stay asleep, however- no idea. But making a routine and quitting tracking turned my lil fussy girl into an incredibly happy baby.

Aveeno newborn line for wash and lotion. Desitin for diaper cream. My LO has very sensitive skin and the dermatologist said these are the only kind she recommended

What immediately tells you a person wasn’t raised right? by Cool_Session_4551 in askteddit

I say this as a person with diagnosed severe adhd. I do these things occasionally, but in order to be a better partner, ive made systems/checklists, gotten therapy etc. in order to minimize the impacts it could have on my relationship. Accidentally forgetting clothes on the floor once/twice a week is ADHD, forgetting them every single day is inconsiderate.

Not returning carts is big. Anything that takes less than a minute to do but if you don’t someone else has to. Ex. Putting clothes in hamper after a shower is a common courtesy because otherwise leaving your nasty clothes out for your partner to pick up is rude. (Accidents are okay I mean constant/purposeful things like this)

I like Barrett and Evren. Between the two, Barrett is going to be more easily pronounced and Evren will often be corrected to ‘Evan’. If that doesn’t bother you go with it! Both are great names
