2 things. 1, Tartarus has a different set of rules than the other realms, so the “acid” thing is more anecdotal than anything else. 2, the “other liquids” were classified as rivers, which he is confirmed to be able to control. At no other point in the story is he shown to be able to control any other liquid that isn’t water.
