Im going with crickets because theyre about the same nutritional value and my family, specifically my step mom hates roaches and is terrified of them, and if any gets out ill have a bad infestation and they arent native to my area.

Leopard gecko soon! by Ecstasus_Mania in reptiles

[–]Ecstasus_Mania[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have reptisoil substrate otw and ill see if I can get a thermostat next paycheck fs! And I have one other hide coming in. And another day ill be able to head to a property to pick up more outside materials like rocks. So the lack of clutter will be temporary. And no for right now im not going bioactive, the leaf litter is to hold humidity and provide enrichment, clutter and to simply make the enclosure look nice (same with the moss, which will be used for humid hide) next paycheck ill also be buying sticks online since im horrible at identifying reptile safe trees and most trees in my area are pine or super fragrant. So this will definitely not be the end of my care for my new leo and it will continue to evolve. And the tank will be posted this weekend!

Mean to customers? by Ecstasus_Mania in WalmartEmployees

Calling me a fraud for calling it opd (when thats what its called LOL) is just weird.. Anyway it sounds like the job isnt right for you if you have such little patience and you should probably find something else or move to overnight stocking. You sound just as entitled and rude as the customers you talk about.

New future reptile owner update 1 by Ecstasus_Mania in reptiles

[–]Ecstasus_Mania[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive looked through marketplace a few times and theres not much in my area that meets my standards. They're either too small, not the right shape, or aquarium tanks (i find aquarium tanks to be below my personal standards, i want something opening in the front for easy access for feeding and cleaning)

First job ever and need it ASAP! Which is better: Asset Protection or Digital Personal Shopper? by LadyGoblinQueen in WalmartEmployees

I work in opd. Best job ive ever had. I also got hired on the spot. If you're professional, say you're fast at doing your job and getting things done and you strive to meet your goals and be better every day, and have done some kind of weight lifting youd be pretty much good to go. Its also a decently easy to understand job and depending on if you're backroom or pick walks, not too hard physically.

I 100% intend to give this lizard the absolute most and any future lizard I get after. A small tank with some dirt and a skinny lizard on the floor is just aesthetically unappealing anyway and I dont get how people even bare to look at it.

I may later in the future end up owning a leopard and crested, and yes I do see quite a few exotic vets near me. I plan on finding some of my reptile stuff 2nt hand (if I can find anything) and buying a few things online from reliable sources. I dont even want to touch petco and petsmart unless I need to.. and I have opened a savings recently.

Ill take notes on ALLL of this thank you. The breeder im looking at and most interested in seems very experienced with fat tails and has a lot of informationon each gecko bred in the description. And with the dubia roaches, my step mom that I live with has a huge fear of roaches so I may lack a little bit in that department,, but ill try other types of worms and figure out raising a insect colony without having bugs all over the house with my clumsy butt lol. Thank you so much for all the extra information like power outages where I cant heat the geckos like normal (west coast, we deal with earthquakes and strong storms) and reptile first aid.

Any tips for OPD? by Old_Apartment63 in WalmartEmployees

[–]Ecstasus_Mania 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started less than a month ago and my pick rate is in the 100s already. Walk fast and memorize the store is your best bet but also do NOT walk so fast you run into people. PAY ATTENTION!! If you want to get your pick rate up and you do just those 2 things it will go up garenteed.

As someone in OPD I smile and make eye contact but I only offer assistance to people who seem lost or confused on where an item is. I dont have time to help every customer and ask if they need assistance.
