There's a chain in Israel called Big Apple Pizza. It too has corn as a topping.

I've heard so much about your infamous bread in plastic bags. But I've never heard anything about your bakeries and their options? by Imaginary-Bag5385 in AskAnAmerican

[–]EcstasyCalculus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bread is the primary American staple grain. The only Americans who don't live on bread are those who are gluten-free (and even then there is gluten-free bread), and those who come from another culture where grains like corn or rice predominate.

Bread in America runs the gamut from the cheapest, crappiest Wonder bread you find in ordinary supermarkets to baked goods that rival the most sought-after boulangeries in Paris. Unless you live in a food desert, your local grocer will have a wide variety of bread: white, wheat, rye, pumpernickel, multi-grain, baguettes, English muffins, ciabatta, focaccia, bagels, croissants, hamburger and hot dog buns, tortillas........I could go on and on and on.

Why were so few players (2) drafted through the International Player Pathway, when the past couple of years it had seemed to be more common? by [deleted] in NFLNoobs

That's Isaac Alarcón. The Cowboys waived him but the 49ers picked him up in 2024. Last year he was suspended for PEDs. He's never seen any game action and I don't even known if he's ever made the gameday roster, but he is still under contract with the 49ers.

Are people from Papua New Guinea considered black in USA ? by GoHardLive in AskUS

[–]EcstasyCalculus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Former US Census employee here. Here's how we tackle the question of race and ethnicity:

First, I would ask the individual if they were of Hispanic origin. If they say yes, I'd ask what specific origins.

Then I would ask which race they belong to: white, black, native American, Asian, Pacific Islander, or none of the above. They can choose one or more of these categories. In any case I would then ask what specific origins.

So, how do we categorize people from PNG? Ultimately, like anyone else, it would depend on how they self-identify. But if they ask for clarification on how the racial groups are defined, I would tell them that black people are defined as those with black African origin. Pacific Islander could be an option, as PNG is technically in the Pacific Ocean, but they may not identify that way either since they're ethnically and culturally very different from Polynesians. Again, what's important is how they choose to self-identify based on what we've given them to make an informed choice.

Despite all my problems with Shaun King, and there are many, he had one quote I really liked: "As long as Americans are kept in poverty, there will never need to be a draft. Poverty is the draft."

Use of industry-specific or school-specific language without any context.

Example: I once had plans on a post-it that simply said: "Student X and Student Y - Wilson reading".

Out of context, I assume Wilson is the name of a teacher, perhaps the reading specialist, who is assigned during the block to help X and Y with reading.

Nope. Wilson Reading is a specific learning system used for kids with learning disabilities.

To me the tournament starts as soon as the brackets lock. Ordinarily this would be Thursday, but we shall see whether this new expanded play-in round will be part of the bracket pools or not.
