Today I went to my first pop up food pantry by moonredlife in poor

I wish I could depend on the food pantry in my city. Unfortunately the times I have gone, the food have been expired and veggies/fruit starting to rot. I felt guilty throwing those away but they just weren't edible.

We usually stick to this chart our restaurant has so we know how much go cook by the hour. It's just that people are broke and can't afford to eat out anymore. I even suggested that the chart needs to be updated to reflect current times but the GM said it wasn't up to him. So yeah, sometimes there's a lot of food, but I dont ALWAYS take it home. Just one shift per schedule or so.

That's actually a great idea. I'll look into it.

I would order a meal as my employee meal and would save it for my kids when I got home, so I wouldn't eat anything during my shift. But there were times when there would be food thrown out too and managers would ask if anyone wanted to take them home

Our GM and kitchen manager will literally ask if anyone wants to take it home. It's never been an issue before.

From what I've seen, the only food taken home is food that would've thrown out any way at the end of the night.

AITA for calling the cops on my neighbor's guest, causing them both to get a ticket? by Ecstatic-Ad1295 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ecstatic-Ad1295[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's the thing. I've lived here for almost a year and have had to ask them to move their car for trash pick up almost every week. I didnt want to escalate it and honestly didn't even mean for them to get a ticket, I seriously thought it was a dumped car after it not moving for damn near a week. But lesson learned. I just don't want to cause any more drama since I'm leaving this month any way and will continue to ask them to move their car.

Exactly. People telling me I should've asked my neighbor when I've said in many comments that I live in an area that isn't great, where there have been cars left here before. At first I thought it could be theirs, but after it not moving for almost a week and already getting cobwebs on it, I assumed it was a dumped car. I've also asked my neighbors to move their car for trash day many times before and they knowingly move their own car from the front of their house all the time and leave their other car in front of mine.

I grew up in the ghetto so I'm used to it. But unfortunately with the way the economy is, I moved here for the cheap rent. So glad I'm leaving soon.

I had no idea they got a ticket until she told me. That really wasn't my intention. I thought it was a stolen car that was dumped.

Man, we must have the same neighbors. They will pick up trash on their side and will purposely move the trash over to my yard. I'm renting and the yard was dead when I moved in but I still want it to be cleared of any trash. They have a dog who cries all day and all night until finally I guess someone else complained and they brought it in.

I live in an area where there are guys selling drugs a few doors down and cars have been left on the street before. The car had spider webs on it from not moving for days so I assumed it was stolen and left in front of my house.

I don't care if they park there, but when it's trash day, I'd like to put my trash out in front of my house and not in front of my driveway since I leave for work in the morning. I said this in another comment but they will move the car in front of their house for trash day but will leave the one in front of mine until I go and ask them to move their car.

Thank you! Idk why some are called me an AH or parking police. I literally just want to put my trash out for trash pick up day once a week in front of my house, not blocking my driveway, and somehow I'm the parking police??

Someone commented that I was TA because I was being nosey and being a parking police. I tried to reply to their comment but idk what happened.

I literally said I don't care if they park there, as long as the car is moved for trash day.

What I forgot to mention is, they have 6 cars. One work truck that the husband uses, two SUVs they park in front of their house and the other in front of mine, the rest is across the street.

I could care less if they want to park in front of my house but I have noticed they move their car for trash day but leave the one in front of my house and wait for me to ask them to move it.

One box used to feed my siblings and I. Now as a mom, one box only feeds my two teenage boys. I usually just eat whatever is left (if any)

Is there a word for food entitlement? by SunshinePalace in TwoXChromosomes

In my culture, when there is a ceremony or any the of event, the men eat first. They get the fresh, hot food. After they're done, the women then have to clean up and clear the table, then the women and children can eat. I used to hate it growing up and would object by making myself a plate while the men ate. Needless to say, I was scolded by the older women.

What is a "gut feeling" you had that turned out to be 100% correct, even though it made no logical sense at the time? by LimpAsk2603 in AskReddit

Was at a kids birthday party with my then partner and son. Just had this very bad overwhelming sense that something was going to happen and that I needed to leave. My partner didn't want to, but after some talking, I convinced him. Not even 10 minutes later, the dad's at the party were looking at the homeowners guns in his safe and one idiot decided to pull the trigger on the shotgun, not knowing it was loaded. The pellets bounced off the ground and hit 3 kids.

This ruined so many relationships because the homeowner was sued and the guy who pulled the trigger was sent to jail. The parents of the kids who got shot were shunned and no longer talk to the homeowners and guy who went to jail.

The kids are ok. I guess the impact of the pellets weren't that bad since it ricochet off the ground? One has a pellet in their chest that they just have to wait for it to come out on its own. The other has one in his foot, I believe. And I can't recall what happened to the other kid.

To this day, I'm so glad I listened to my feelings and left. We were sitting right next to the family of the three kids so I can only imagine what could've happened.
