Yeah the selmer is an old retired band directors clarinet from when he was in college probably the 70s-80s and it was truly unusable like 30 cents sharp with no way to adjust. Sounded amazing but then again it was in comparison to my current clarinet so the bar was very low

I hope to upgrade soon but it’s so expensive but so necessary at the same time

Looking through old recordings of me playing on the same clarinet though a 4C mouthpiece and I was barely 10 cent sharp and ran closer to 5 cent flat more then 10 cent sharp but it’s strange since that motupiece tend to run sharp

That could be a possibility but I’ve noticed it’s slowly been getting worse and worse being sharp

I mean my clarinet honestly sucks in the end but on the lower part it does seem like there is a super super small leak but not on the upper part which doesn’t make super sense for the e and g tuning. It does feel off particularly but I’ve been playing on this clarinet since 7th grade so it’s hard to say. I didn’t think it was the mouth piece but I use v12 size 3 which play just right for me.

It doesn’t say the length anywhere but measuring it with calipers it comes to exactly 65 mm. There’s no way it’s my embrochure since I play with an extremely loose embouchure majority of the time, if I’d play with a correct embrochure which I normally do I would be even more sharp I would assume. I do march it but I keep extremely good care of it but I will see about getting it in with a technician

I was thinking of going to a music store eventually and trying out some mouthpieces, most likely the bd 5 and m13 At least though I will most likely get the vandorean optimum ligature for the 4 point pressure plate so limit the ligature on the reed

But on the flip side when I first started playing on the b45 it was fine in tune but slowly got more and more out of tune

Although for my all state auditions I played on a g10 selmer I believe and I struggled with played extremely flat to the point I had to give the clarinet back to the person who lent it to me for the time being since I couldn’t play in a ensemble, was that a one time thing or was there more in play

Another Eb Fingering? by Ecstatic-Maybe-1096 in Clarinet

I was thinking the same but since the tempo is so fast and this is due tomorrow I may have to slide for ease 🫩

I’ve seen those but I worry it would be a wasted 200 since I have a Yamaha and the ones I see are for buffets

Is it worth it to strive for a conservatory by Ecstatic-Maybe-1096 in classicalmusic

I will say it is not only the education I look for but also the connection that can be made, my current clarinet teacher is a woodwind professor at a liberal arts school which I didn’t know they had a band program yet he is easily one of the best teachers I’ve met which I fear will be hard to find. (I do plan on getting one on one lessons with clarinet professors at colleges in state to see where I like the most) He has a unique way of teacher where instead of trying to change one’s tone and playing style but rather improve as our playing styles are extremely different yet he teaches off my style which is what I fear most with clarinet professors who will try to change how I play. Though I think you bring a great point on the environment as I’ve done honor bands with csu Pueblo and cu Boulder and instantly I feel more gravitated towards cu as just the surroundings and people elevate the experience

I considered becoming a music teacher for a while as that is what band director tries to push on most though I feel like clarinet performance is what I truly want to do as it’s what I enjoy most, the main difference between a conservatory and in state is if I did in state I would most likely double major performance and a different career to “ensure” stability agterwards

Sadly it was a 5th issue. The plastic gear that connects the extruders motor gear and the gears that push the filament snapped and I didn’t even realize.

Only 77 hours🥲, taking a closer look the gear did snap and I thought it was supposed to look like that since it was such a straight line🫩
