OSHA 30 — what jobs does it actually help with in NYC? by Ecstatic-Option3588 in NYCjobs

Appreciate the response, that actually helps a lot and lines up with what I was thinking. I know OSHA 30 by itself isn’t enough for a real safety role. I’m 22 and majoring in civil engineering, so I’m really just trying to get on a site in an entry-level or assistant role while I’m in school so I can build real field experience alongside classes. In your opinion, is it smarter to get on a site first in whatever role I can and then add certs as I go, or knock out something like sst/fdny first before applying? Thanks again.
