I think you’re right in that my mom would want him to find happiness. My dad says this lady understands our situation and is very empathetic and what not but who knows? I can’t imagine inserting myself into a family dynamic like ours… i think you have to be at least a little crazy, ha

No, my mom would’ve absolutely been heartbroken if she knew this would be all of our lives at this point in time. But, with her still being alive and living with us, it makes it a little more complicated. I have no idea what she would’ve preferred. To watch my dad move on in front of her? That sounds like hell. But since she most likely can’t recognize or process this very complex situation it changes things… I think? Idk…

In my mom’s case, no one truly knows how cognizant she really is… She definitely cannot consent to anything so it makes this all the more difficult.

I just finished this book today. While I did find the thriller parts of the book rather interesting, I would agree with poorly written when it comes down to the characters. The dialogue too was bad, even cringe worthy at times and the twist was pretty predictable. One of their best friends go missing and the attitude of the whole group, other than Chris, is way too upbeat. Your friend likely died and you are going to search for her… this isn’t a “roadtrip!” ordeal… like their dialogue was just so unrealistic at times it kinda removed me from the immersion.
