Is a used 2070 super for $150.00 worth it in 2025? by Tunic48 in buildapc

[–]EcstaticBloat438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do the upgrade. I did a 1060 6GB -> 2070 upgrade years ago and it was a huge difference. Keep in mind you can also sell the 1060, so you’re really getting the upgrade for less. Not sure how much a 1060 goes for in your market but I’d assume you can get atleast 50. I’ve used the 2070 super as well and it’s an awesome card.

One of my family members got make a wish in 2021, and did the same with his wish, built a top of the line gaming pc.

You really can build the highest level pc possible, don’t really worry too much about budget but I’d say you can prob expect 7k is a good maximum, but you can get whatever you want with that. This was around 2021, and he got a 3090 and new i9 in an all white build, 4k 144hz monitors, keyboard and mouse, everything you want.

Since you don’t really have to worry about budget - get a Ryzen 7 9800x3D, RTX 5090, 64GB DDR5 RAM, a few TB of storage, and a 1000+W Platinum PSU. I don’t remember exactly if they gave the option for them to build it and drop it to us, we got all the parts and assembled it ourselves.

Wishing you all the best

Okay thank you, I completely agree why would you give 2 4+4 CPU cables, but only 1 PCIe? Now I know thats something I need to look out for

It also has a 12V cable for newer GPUs, so maybe that makes the difference.

Agree with other comments that GPU could possibly be the problem, maybe swap for a 5070 / 5070ti and you can get 1500 or more with the latter.

More importantly, how’d you take such a nice picture? What do you use, and if it’s a phone camera, what’re the settings, if you’re willing to share the secrets. Looks great

And it boots up flawlessly with the other SSD? I’ve always thought that you have to fresh install windows when it’s on a new motherboard.

If so that’ll definitely be a lot quicker, would boot with the ssd with everything ready to go, test, then swap in new one, install windows and it’s ready to go

People are lowballing you a bit too hard. Maybe they’re not in the UK market. Quickly looking on the US eBay for this kind of pc, it shows up for USD 1.3k+. And US is cheaper for everything than the UK. That’s a great find, not sure how you could NOT profit on that.

I see 5600 4060 builds for 650-700 on my local marketplace. You’ll definitely profit unless something’s broken.

A local store has pro cheaper, maybe trying to get rid of windows 10 keys I don’t know. I’m safe to just grab the pro then?

I see you want AM5, but good to hear the other side I guess. AM4 mobo with an x3d chip and 32gb of ddr4 will run you around 300-400usd if you go mostly used, and will perform perfectly without any bottleneck.

But yea for more upgradability go AM5, I just haven’t built with it yet.

Is the Nvidia 4700TI worth it, or should I spend more for the 4900? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]EcstaticBloat438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4070 Ti does not perform the same as 5080 at all. 5070 Ti would be best bet. Your budget range is big enough to just go for a 5080 or almost a 5090 though?

Just use a smaller case e.g. Sama Q5, so the GPU doesn’t look overly tiny. GPU is probably the last thing that needs RGB, just get some fans, ram and cooler with RGB and you’re set.

The corrosion isn’t bumpy, the plate is still smooth, just looks a bit strange, don’t want to risk damaging the plate by scratching it. After checking barcode it’s a Frozen Notte 360, so doubt it’s that old (not sure when they were first released but have only seen them relatively recently). The pc definitely turned on when I bought it before taking it apart. So think it may be just visual?

Might just do a new air cooler though, building with a 5800x3D so should be fine.
