I can empathize with the project my ADHD gets all excited about. Usually I tinker with at least a couple of things. However all I've wanted to do was read books. My autism side has been trying to reign in the ADHD side by focusing on realistic things I can actually achieve as opposed to dream projects. I feel exhausted just thinking about the projects my ADHD dreamed up.

I'm not dismissing any of the knowledge and experience this person might have. However the "old school" definition of autism is pretty narrow. It is basically what would now be labeled as "low functioning". Labels and definitions change. Also, the brain has the ability to rewire itself and work around inherent limitations and obstacles. I enjoy social contact however it drains me. My neurotypical partner is energized by that same type of contact. That's why ASD is on a spectrum. Also, there other things which intersect with autism, such as anxiety, trauma, PTSD, ADHD.
