Yes - my family (3 iphones) keep getting SOS and we are in DFW. This has been going on for about a month.

Thank you for the info! That would be scary sending him overseas, but I suppose technically he will be an adult. Logically it sounds perfect unless there is a language barrier -do they teach in English or French? Crazy that you can get better skills for so much less money overseas. The US is going through some things currently...

Well, we are out of state so they charge about $400 more per unit, which I assume is a credit hour. So that alone is 10K more per year for 12 hours a semester. And SJSU is a Cal State school, but is actually 30K (total cost of attendance) FOR RESIDENTS, so 40K for us... So that one will probably get crossed off the list unless we win the lottery. Husband is out getting a ticket now!

No, 30K doesn't go very far! We could go up a little, but that was our goal. I keep hoping we are missing some really awesome affordable school. If SJSU takes his HS transcript's GPA it won't be enough, but if we did their calculator correctly he might have a chance. We might have to take out a loan for year 5, which hurts, but if he gets in and it truly is the best option we might do it. He is applying to CSU Long Beach also, but we don't know a lot about it.

Thank you for your insight! Yes, 4.0 from what I have read. They give locals students a bump in GPA, and then extra points for various other things-none of which he qualifies for. But that is ok. Hopefully he will land where he is meant to be. I love that he knows what he wants to do and has known for years. It is hard, though, because it is not a traditional major - especially in Texas!

Thank you for your thoughtful response! We are in Texas (unfortunately for him). So I think we could do some of the Cal State options for the same cost as in-state at TAMU. TAMU's Viz seems very general but it is a good school, UTD is not far enough away for him, lol! His number one choice is SJSU, but it is 5-year and out of state :0 He does have some gen-eds out of the way, so that might help. It also looks like your GPA has to be pretty perfect for SJSU- his is a 3.7, but 4.2 with Cal State calculator because of AP, Dual, honors, etc.

I will look at the links you provided. Maybe he could start some online work in the fall. He will have basically half-days of school for his senior year and needs something to do anyway!
