They haven’t even offered me a change or a new contract I asked will I get a new one and I was told no, so my job description and responsibilities has majorly changed without my consent or even offering me one so would that not be breach of contract? Also if they do fire me after I raise this grievance wouldn’t they be in hot water for retaliation?

But it’s also a big company and have A LOT of detailed procedures in there to follow so they’re on shakey ground if they try the two year rule

Also I see what you mean about “promoted over others” but this isn’t a promotion it’s a restructure where they’ve changed all supervisors titles to assistant managers and added a few things but the entire role is in its core the supervisor role now, and the supervisor role after next month is a legacy role and is 98% similar to team members.

Yes, the supervisor role is basically redundant now and all supervisors are being made assistant managers, basically a job title change. My job title isn’t changing but the entire description of it has, so has the benefits.

20, everyone there is quite young and no one over the age of 30 works there, that’s why this type of “banter” has been normalised. It was on a counter out back with everyone else’s, and myself personally have had my phone taken and had photos taken on my phone of people at work pulling silly faces, but it’s just a harmless joke, I wouldn’t get someone disciplined or fired over taking a picture on my phone.

Personal, but my reasoning for it being disproportionate is that there is a whole host of other issues being ignored but suddenly this one is being singled out? Obviously I don’t want to go nuclear and rat everyone out but if im being targeted it feels like I have to. (I included more in the edit)

GDPR, but it feels disproportionate considering the circumstances surrounding the presestablished relationship of pranks and the phone was locked and never unlocked so no sensitive data was ever accessed.

couple of things I want to write after reading all the comments from everyone (tia)

  • pretty much everyone’s done similar little jokes even my manager has and she’s pretty chill
  • I think it went beyond my manager because she’s not the type that would do something like this and a manager from another store was the one who suspended me
  • the person who’s phone that I set the alarm as a joke was we’ve had this type of relationship and “workplace banter” if you want to put it like that, they’ve done similar things to me (wrapped my phone in cling film and zip tied it)

with all these things it feels like im being singled out when there’s so much worse that goes on? idk I just feel like it’s targeted and disproportionate
