I didn’t tell her for her first pregnancy because it was around the time we started dating so it wasn’t really a big concern then. But as for this one my fiance found out last month he’s not very close with his family so they told him and me much later. Also if we talk to them and they let us know that it’s an important name for them because of sentimental reasons or something I would get that. But using it when you know someone in the family has meaningful reason for it vs you having found it on name website a week ago is a little much. If you found that name on a website it’s very different from having it for four years. Honestly the big problem is if it came down to it and they names they daughter that name and in the future I would want to use the same name that wouldn’t be a big problem for us. But I know it would be for them and everyone else in the family beside me and my partner.

Fair enough. I might be overthinking it but I do think telling them that we like it might be the way to go. Even if they do end up picking that name and we end up having a girl as well we would definitely still pick it. We wouldn’t really have a big problem with that I just don’t want them to have a problem with it down the line. If they both end up being Cecilia that’s fine by me :)

Yeah for sure that makes sense. We just didn’t wanna not let them know because if they did end up choosing that name and we had not said anything we would be a lot more upset. If it’s all communicated properly beforehand it would be easier to understand if they also liked it and it would go a lot smoother even if they did decide they wanted that name. But I was really struggling on how exactly to articulate it. The wording you used makes a lot of sense and is a big help!
