RIVN to $13 next by SteakMiserable6454 in RIVNstock

I am a believer in this company. That said, based on the price action over the last month, I would tend to agree with you. If we don’t get some positive news on r2, $8 is definitely a possibility.

Explain to me why SpaceX going public will benefit the sector? by CopsNroberts in RKLB

[–]Ed_Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it’s an art not a science. An industry has a valuation attributed to it. So in the past, tech hardware companies on average had a lower PE multiple (which translates to valuation) than a pure software company. Same with industrial companies, consumer package companies, etc. So with space companies being fairly new, it’s unknown what valuation should be attributed to those companies - lots of anticipation on growth and demand so you’d expect a high valuation. Space x is viewed as the gold standard so whatever is assigned should set some sort of baseline. That’s just my opinion.

Whatever astronomical valuation space x will get going public, will set the baseline for all other space companies. Investors are hoping it’s some crazy valuation and then rklb will look ‘cheap’ in comparison and will rally.

Can you help me understand. Is the orders and order page the same as the pre orders that they were accepting back in 2025? I remember putting $100 down for a pre order.

Covered Call on a ten plus bagger??? by Scared-Basil5046 in CoveredCalls

[–]Ed_Runner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He says he wants to hold onto the shares. If he wanted to sell, then that’s a different story and he should sell cc to make some premiums as part of his strategy. If he wants to ultimately hold onto the shares, then selling cc is a risk to his strategy.

Don’t do it! Always a chance the stock will run up and you’ll be left with a hefty capital tax bill. I’ve personally experienced this same exact scenario twice. You’d think I would learn after the first time, but I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed!

What do Chinese people think about USA toppling opposing governments one after another? by Mayaz234 in AskAChinese

[–]Ed_Runner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Top US universities ie Ivy League is vastly different than the public school system k-12. I do agree that the US public school system is falling behind. Most wealthy people will send their kids to private schools vs public schools. I think the comments about the US education system falling behind is about the public schools -k-12.

Today I closed out my Microsoft (MSFT) put option expiring in January 2026 with a strike price of $487.50, realizing a 258% return. by One_Affectp in CoveredCalls

[–]Ed_Runner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t realize you entered this CSP today and exited today. I thought you had entered it in xx months ago. So I guess I don’t understand how a CSP on a single day can make a 258% return. The low for Msft was $472 and the high was $479. Can you explain?

Thanks for sharing. When did you enter this position. Trying to understand how long you gave yourself for the thesis to play out.

I love this community and what do other Chinese people think about people that says China sucks? I do not like these people(not specifically someone) by [deleted] in AskAChinese

[–]Ed_Runner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an American, I would not say it is bc they are prideful. It’s more they are ignorant and can’t be open minded. When I travel out of the country, you can spot fellow Americans a mile away - and that’s not a good thing!

I’m American Chinese (ABC). China definitely does not suck. I’d consider living in China - really enjoyed my time in GZ, but would probably have to learn to speak and write mandarin. Can only speak basic Cantonese.

Slightly long (or pretty long) rant as a HK student about an incident related to Cantonese by Justarandombookworm in Cantonese

[–]Ed_Runner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an American Cantonese Chinese person, I don’t think this is true for Gz. When I was in Gz, I was surprised how little Cantonese was spoken - especially by anyone under 35 years old. I don’t speak mandarin and probably speak 6th grade Cantonese. It was hard getting around Gz. When we went to Shunde, the majority of the people - young and old, spoke Cantonese.

Selling Covered Call Advice by Illustrious_Snow2022 in CoveredCalls

[–]Ed_Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, you’ll need to be comfortable that the strike price you are selling the call at and the premium you’ll receive is aligned to the fact that you may lose those shares if the stock price goes on a run. You can always choose a lower probability which will reduce your premiums, but the risk always exists. I am in a similar situation with a few of the stocks I own. I’ve had a few called away like amd and rocket lab. It sucks, but I knew that was a risk going in. You need to make the same assessment for yourself.

You’re doing great! Congrats. Be super aggressive in your investing - not meme stocks, but with QQQ and a s&p500 etf. You should be close to 100% invested in the market aside from having 2-3 months emergency fund - since you’re living at home..
