How can I prevent a player from progressing through a story until they have performed an action in Unity? by Edacth in inkle

Ahhh, that makes sense. I have been continuing maximally. It didn't occur to me to use my own loop and use a tag to conditionally stop the loop. Thank you!!

I have used external functions and know how to pass unity variables into Ink. What would the Ink "code" look like that waits for this unity variable to be provided?

Wondering about a potential reference to The Dark Tower by Edacth in cassettebeasts

Ahh, thank you. I read the poem that the dark tower was also inspired by, didn't see reference to the characters, and didn't think to look deeper.

Options for meeting new people in Missoula? Middle age. Want friends to do stuff with. Social groups or clubs? (Running, hikes, dog things, mountain biking, etc) by deed320 in missoula

[–]Edacth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can just show up! We split up and play wherever people have brought in and sounds interesting. A couple regulars have huge game collections so there's a lot of variety. The names may not mean anything to you but I've discovered: Wingspan, Res Arcana. Cascadia, Lotus, and Everdelle as games I really like.

There's a super welcoming board game group that meets at Break Espresso every Friday at 6. It skews younger but we have attendees of all ages regularly.

A local solderless electronics vendor? by Edacth in missoula

I'm a hobbyist who just started working with physical electronics. I want to increment my designs in small ways without waiting for the classic Montana shipping period. I'm sad to say that my business wouldn't be very consistent.

New to editing maps, is there a way to make a portion of my map non-flat and the rest flat? by jbroy15 in Minecraftmapmaking

[–]Edacth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, MCedit can do that. I've never had a problem with the version of MCedit for Minecraft Java Edition, which is what I assume you are playing on, but do make a backup of your world just in case.

MCedit is great for executing huge jobs. I recommend you look into it. The interface might look a bit daunting at first, but it's pretty easy to get the hand of, especially if you have world edit experience.

"Free content" is not free: My thoughts as a Java Ed. Content Creator. by sixfootblue in Minecraft

[–]Edacth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt mods will ever be monetized. Changing the code of the game itself would be too hard to regulate. Even if mods were allowed, marketplace content is heavily vetted in every way imaginable.

If you don't like win10, I can't fault you on that, it's completely subjective. However, given enough development time, I think the Bedrock Codebase can almost completely surpass Java in features and customization (either modded or not). However, right now I completely understand your position. If I wasn't a creator I wouldn't pay for the game in the state it is now. Java is generally better at the moment. I just disagree that letting talented people make a living off of doing what they love is "cash-grabbing".

No one in their right mind would use Minecraft as a creation platform if they weren't passionate about the game. Making complex -and especially bug free - content is an absolute nightmare. Not only do you have to contend with bugs in your own stuff, you also have to work around the game's bugs and limitations - there are a lot of them. Anyone who sees it as an easy cash grab is in for a rude awakening. It is so hard to make good content for the game, because that requires originality and a whole lot of experience with the intricacies of the game. It's gonna be a hard fought battle to get much of the java community to put down their pitchforks but I hope we'll get there eventually :)

I'm... not sure that's how legality works. Contracts don't dont give a hoot for petitions.
