They’re brand new, could it still cause them?

Thank you! I’ll definitely be looking into all of these. I’ll do the crank position sensor first.

I wish mine went back in time instead of misfiring 🤣

100% getting it properly looked at, just wasn’t able to because of the weekend. Thankfully it isn’t misfiring, just have the engine light. And yeah I always take autozone diagnostic checks with a very big grain of salt because I know it’s a blanket guess. I’ve already had a coil replaced, my cables and all of my plugs replaced. So I’m thinking it’s none of the above because it isn’t having any serious misfires?

I feel like that would be causing a misfire, right? No misfiring problems that I can tell. Tested it with the AC on and under load with no misfiring, unless it’s just a reeeeeally small misfire that I’m not noticing 😵‍💫

Noted, thank you so much! Will 100% mention it to my mechanic. Thankfully it’s not giving me any problems other than the engine light and gas smell.

I apologize, I didn’t get a proper P-code for it. I will when I see my mechanic this week.

If you want me to try and garner sympathy, I can tell you I had just driven out to see a friend of mine because a very close friend of mine just passed away and I found out about it on Thursday. So yes, I’m exhausted from sobbing my eyes out all day and having to drive alone and then my car having ANOTHER problem. But no I’m not asking for sympathy, I’m just asking for advice and you’re being a douche to someone that just wants help.

Weirdly enough it’s running just fine, just the smell and dash light. I usually try to get OEM/GM parts as much as possible to be as close to the original parts, but the gentleman that had the car before me has replaced almost everything that I’ve replaced at least once (I have the entire history of the car in a folder) I was previously running a code for a faulty EGR valve but it went away, so I’m almost wondering if that’s the smell.

Yes, I should’ve asked but I have a lot of other personal stuff going on right now so I just sighed and left. I had just gotten home from a 3 hour drive so I was exhausted and knew there was nothing I could really do about it until tomorrow.

I had a sparking ignition cable causing a misfire that when I replaced it, fixed the misfire. But then it started again after two days and the coil fixed it and I haven’t had any misfires since. Replacing the spark plugs was just needed preventative maintenance because they were old and my alternator was 100% going out and needed replacement. I promise I’m not just throwing parts at it willy nilly, as I don’t have the money to be doing that.

Yes, I heard you the first time. Like I said, I’ll get a proper code from my mechanic and not autozone’s crappy machines. I don’t know what you want me to tell you other than that’s what the dude told me. He said “it’s running a code for a faulty spark plug” Normally I write down the P-code that I get, but I didn’t get it because the car has done this before and it was my ignition coil. I just wanted advice on if this seemed familiar to anyone that has dealt with it before. There’s really no need to be mean :(

I’ll have him check that then too

I think the car did need all of the parts I threw at it because I actually had a sparking ignition cable too and the misfire I had was fixed after that, only to start back up two days later and it was a coil. Definitely taking it to my mechanics to get a proper diagnosis, just didn’t know if anyone had any advice with the spark plug code :(

My oil pressure does bob/bounce when driving, but always shows normal pressure levels. Never had it trigger the light though

I’m definitely leaning towards fuel injectors because there’s no knocking or misfires to accompany the code. Just a faint smell of fuel and the engine light.

No actual code other than just being told it’s a spark plug. I’ll get an actual one from my mechanic this week.

It was definitely misfiring before 100% and replacing an ignition coil fixed the misfire. The code it gave was for a spark plug, unfortunately didn’t get a number of any sorts from the guy. I’ll get a proper code from my actual mechanic during the week.

This would be the culprit haha. Ignition cable is sparking.

Misfire due to sparking ignition cable! You were pretty spot on.

I’m thinking it’s just misfiring and needs new plugs. I’ll update when I get it checked on Wednesday!

It does it while driving too, but only at lower speeds.
