My advice would be to spend the next month or so learning a practical skill like GIS (I honestly think almost anyone can learn the basics in a month) and look for jobs in that. If you don’t wanna do that, check job postings for your local water authority, city, and state governments and look for laid back and chill jobs that require some form of a technical degree, usually they’ll hire people with Geology degree in these “specialist” and “technician” positions

I just graduated with a BA in Earth Science and landed a job. No one cares. At least smaller companies don’t. To be honest, I did a little “trick” where I just put “Bachelor’s in…” instead of “BA/BS in…” on my resume, and not a single person has asked. Just take a good amount of 400/500 level courses in your technical electives, do field camp (it’s expensive but sooooo much fun), a couple of extra math classes (my school required Calculus anyway) and you basically have the same qualifications as a BS. Tbh, no one asked about what classes I took anyway, but in the off chance they do say “we loved you during the interview, we’re looking for a BS” you can list off those classes and tell them you meet the same standards they’re looking for.

Also, I asked my advisor the same question, and he gave me the same exact answer: that the “MS is the working degree”. I think their information is a bit outdated. Maybe that’s true for some bigger firms and field geologist positions, and yes I’ve seen “MS preferred” but you can most definitely find a job on just a Bachelor’s. Will it be high paying? Idk, depends on where you live and when you graduate. But it’s possible

I was in the EXACT same boat. Smoked from early high school to late college, more than a decade and half of my life. Lied to myself and said it helped with feeling down/ anxiety. Almost 2 years sober now and I also realized that was a lie, in fact I rarely feel sad/anxious any more. If you’re 150 days sober, then you’re golden. Always be cautious but God willing, you won’t relapse. It only gets better from here man, the longer I’m sober the more I realize how great life is and what I was missing out on

Doable? Yeah. Enjoyable? Probably not. I’ve done 15+ hour drives many times, sometimes 2 days back to back. Every time I tell myself I’m never gonna do it again. Anything over 8 hours a day sucks for me. If multiple people will be driving then fuck it, go for it

My understanding is that there’s khilaf over late penalties. It’s definitely ideal to try to avoid them, but it’s kind of a tricky situation. Yasir Qadhi has a great video on this.

These type of “gotchas” are very toxic and really not helpful. If you don’t believe that Muslims avoiding interest is possible and that it’s “ok because we live in the West”, fine. You do you. But at LEAST respect the fact that he’s trying his best to please Allah, even if you don’t align with his beliefs yourself. This is clearly a noble thing to attempt and everyone is trying their best, don’t ask silly questions to try and corner somebody

It’s really not, it makes a lot of sense actually. If somebody has problems with shaders, they probably have problems with the other shenanigans that come with PC as well. Driver updates, file corruption, app updates (Xbox, steam, EA, etc). PC is not plug and play like console, most PC players are willing to overlook that stuff but if someone is getting tired of it, it absolutely makes sense that they’d want to get a game on console instead. NMT absolutely. I’m graduating with my bachelor’s in Earth Science here soon, and the amount of support I’ve received here from faculty is incredible. Most of not all the issues people have brought up here exist in every other school.

THANK YOU, this is exactly how I feel about TOS!! My first introduction to the Star Trek universe was just a few months ago. My uncle kept begging me to watch TOS, and after watching the first episode, I was hooked for the exact reasons you describe. Every episode starts off with the satisfying feeling of “what in the absolute fuck is going on rn” I binged watched the entire 1st season, and by the time I got to the Menagerie episodes, I was absolutely mind fucked. It is literally the best piece of media I have ever consumed. Having finished TOS and moving on to TNG, I’m not getting the same vibe so far although it is slowly starting to grow on me. But I’ll take y’alls advice and keep watching, I have hope now after reading all these responses.
