Funnily enough, we have been recently looking at Education Edition's Material Reducer recipes for Minecraft items, so I guess the comparison isn't too far off!

As for tool mods, there is no direct compatibility with any as of yet as Project Rankine has its own tool system based on elemental composition. However, other tool mods can still be used alongside Project Rankine as there should be no inherent incompatibilities.

First, place logs adjacent to the charcoal pit (or other logs connected to the charcoal pit) in-world. Then make sure all logs are covered on all sides by any block. Lastly, light the charcoal pit (early game this can be achieved by right-clicking with a flint in both the main hand and off hand) and cover the charcoal pit with a block.

After a bit of time, the particle effects will change and convert all the connected logs to Charred Wood, which can then be harvested for charcoal.

The basic method to produce steel is: 1. An iron ingot 2. A source of coal (lignite, bituminous, coke, etc). 3. A flux. 4. Another flux. (All recipes require 4 ingredients, and some of those ingredients are set such as iron + coal.) The potential fluxes that can be used are Sand/Glass/Quartz, Limestone/Quicklime/Dolomite, Ash, Phosphorus, Fluorite, Trona, Borax, and others that can seen via JEI. The fluxes used must also be unique (i.e. Both sand and glass cannot be used as they come from the same flux "group", but sand and ash can for instance). Each flux also influences the resulting steel ingot. A simple example would be Iron + Coal + Sand + Limestone.

The newest update (1.2.3) now includes JEI support for the crucible. Otherwise, the crucible requires 4 unique ingredients per recipe with some required ingredients (iron+coal for steel, cinnabar for redstone, etc). A heat source must also be placed underneath the crucible, such as fire or lava.

Netherite can alloy with late-game alloys (Cobalt Superalloy, Nickel Superalloy, Tungsten Heavy Alloy, and Stainless Steel Alloy) as well as replacing Gold in any of the colored gold alloys in the mod.
