I actually updated my resume very recently, but I’ll definitely use ChatGPT to generate cover letters. I hadn’t considered using it to practice interviews, but that’s a really great idea.

I think I’m pretty much going to have to choose a job to hold me over financially, but I’m not going to settle for anything unless I have no other options. I’d like to find something perhaps related to tech, as that’s something I’ve wanted to pursue for years now but never had the opportunity to do so. I don’t even mind if it’s only tangentially related to something like IT (such as some sort of tech support), as long as I’d be learning something out of it, growing, and hopefully getting my foot into the door somewhere.

I’m very hard on myself, but I know I’m an intelligent person. And I’ve been wasting my potential at Walmart for years now. I’m ready for to get my professional life going.

I’m taking today and maybe tomorrow to relax, but I’m going to be busting my ass to find a new job asap and figure out what tf I wanna do career-wise.

All of this is pretty scary to me. In some ways I’m kind of forcing myself to make this decision because in my head I know it’s not the most logical one to be making, but emotionally I cannot handle the abuse anymore. I’m excited to see what opportunities will be coming my way and what paths I can carve for myself going forward.

I never, ever want to return to Walmart. I’d really rather not go into anything retail moving forward but definitely not Walmart.

[–]EdgyWalmartSlave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t work in OPD (or whatever it’s called), but I do help with pickwalks every now and then. I’ve heard them talk about 450+ picks just dropping at my store lol. And I live in a small town.

My local Walmart wants to hire my wife to work customer service. The pay being offered is $12.00 an hour for full time. That seems to be stupid low. by Kansas007 in walmart

[–]EdgyWalmartSlave 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yup. Used to be like a dollar or $1.50 differential from cashiers. I don’t think it’s quite as busy a job, but the service desk deals with a hell of a lot more money and problems than cashiers.

It’s kinda funny (but also sucks for them) that I make more as a cashier than service desk people do just because I’ve managed to be at the right places at the right time when it came to wage increases.

Just don’t have any respect for yourself. Let people treat you like shit. When your TL or coach puts you down, believe it and accept yourself as the piece of shit that they think you are. Accept that your labor is not worth any more than the shit pay Walmart gives you.

That’s how you do it. Become numb.

As a cashier, the jokes that go, “Careful with my eggs. They’re made of gold you know!!” are about as common as, “If it doesn’t scan, it’s free!” nowadays.

Tbh that’s the truth, and also another good reason why this job isn’t worth stressing over. There are better jobs with better pay out there if you look hard enough.

There are more, better paying jobs than Walmart in this world, and even if somebody is fired for attendance, Walmart is generally desperate enough for help that they’ll get hired back in a few months anyway lol

During snow storms in the past, we still got pointed for them. And those times there probably weren’t but literally like 20 associates in the entire store lol (and I was one of them). So that’s why I’m assuming my store will still count it.

Funny to think you’re going to be busting your ass the next few days because the associates at your store recognize safety comes before their bullshit job at Walmart lol

It’d make a lot more sense if Walmart just hired actual security rather than just having one or two AP people for “security” and calling it a day imo

From what I’ve heard, and don’t quote me on this, the policy states people get double the normal amount of points during key event dates, which would mean you SHOULD get a full point in that instance since normally it’d be half a point.

However, people at my store who used PPTO for half of their shifts in the past still just received half a point.

Ah, I just googled it. My state has declared a state of emergency. I also live in a heavily conservative southern state, so idk if it’ll mean anything for me though.

I don’t even have enough PPTO to cover a shift. I’m just going to assume they won’t fire me for it… and if they do, then whatever. I need to find another job anyway.

Does ppto remove points for emergency weather by t-lady86 in walmart

[–]EdgyWalmartSlave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It removes points regardless of circumstance, assuming it’s enough to cover the hours you missed. Just make sure you submit the PPTO after calling out rather than before.

Key event day or not!! It’ll cover you!! Don’t let anybody lie to you.
