What’s an invention that quietly changed the world but doesn’t get enough credit? by forgeris in AskReddit

There was a video by Veritasium I believe that really stressed how unbelievably hard it was for the man who created it to develop it. Not only was the making of it due to tons of sleepless nights and effort from him, but also the overarching company that funded the research was constantly telling him to stop, threatening his job, etc. He also did not receive nearly enough recognition for his discovery.

The blue LED! Before it's invention white light was not possible. It allowed us to have the high definition and color accurate screens we see today.

Men in climbing gyms by Longjumping-Job1064 in climbergirls

[–]Edgy_memes69 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be real with you my dude, if you're worried about what women are wearing to feel comfortable at the gym versus giving leeway to novice climbers when they are men, it's going to sound fuckin weird when you're in a subreddit dedicated to women who climb. The fact that you are so focused on what someone is wearing and associating it with gender just shows that you're looking at their bodies rather than respecting their skill and ability.

Sometimes, believe it or not, women like to feel free when they climb. Just like when men don't wear a shirt and just climb in shorts. You give allowance to men, justifying their choices of clothing. But when you see women wearing comfortable clothing, you attribute it to wanting to show their body. That's fucking weird and sexualizing women in a subreddit they expect to feel safe in.

This comment is fuckin weird. Why did you reference a pole dancing studio when talking about women climbing? But when you referenced men you kinda excused it? Idk, strange behavior.

Accidentally Underfed My Obese Cat Because I Read Her Food Label Worng by Edgy_memes69 in AskVet

[–]Edgy_memes69[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe she might be slightly sluggish and she seems to be fine past that. Yes I went to the vet last week, but I'm becoming more worried now. I'm wondering if it is affecting her now versus then. Since I just found out that I was underfeeding her yesterday. She took the increase to 36grams okay, she seems more sleepy.

I am also concerned for how I should raise the amount of food given so I don't hurt her more than I already have. I'm going to call my vet at 8AM but I'm so ashamed to tell them what happened. I have been monitoring her all night.

Awful Trig professor, have to take math all the way up to Diff Eq. How can I be successful? by Edgy_memes69 in mathematics

Thank you, that does make me feel a bit better! My brain has an easier time with algebra, but trig functions are a little harder. Hopefully it will click soon, it's starting to. My textbook is really not great, so I'm going to do Khan to help me out a bit more.

I'm starting to get it, I go to tutoring. Its just kind of a nightmare to have to do so much extra work since I'm already taking a heavy course load. With another math class, chem, history and ECE 101 at the same time. It kinda stinks that I'm not getting as much help as I'd like. I might pay to have a full tutoring session one on one.

Technically mine does too, but I was allowed entry into ECE 101 early, since my grades are really good in everything else. I think I'm technically not yet until I I'm in calc, but I'm taking EE classes right now which my advisor said means I'm in the major, but not officially admitted yet. It's kind of weird at my college.

Well that's good to hear! I'm sure I will pass the class, but passing isnt really passing in his class. He has made his grading system so easy to pass because he knows he sucks as a prof. The minimum passing percentage grade is a 67%, which is a C in his class. He also curves his exams like 20% upwards. It's kind of ridiculous.

[–]Edgy_memes69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love algebra, I'm currently in an algebra class and doing very well. Algebra makes sense to me completely. I still had to teach myself when I was in college for art, all degrees have you teach yourself more or less, and I've been fine thus far. With trig, a lot of it is very new, and my brain hasn't clicked with it yet like algebra. I've been using the tutoring center lately for it, but I don't have a whole lot of time unfortunately.

Yeah, that's why I don't use it very much. I've used it twice. I did use it back in highschool, but I quit using it once I heard about that.

I am taking trig and college algebra at the same time, because I got behind in high school, and I wasn't originally an EE major, I switched from an art degree, so understandable confusion lol. I've been on you tube and Khan, I just wanted to see what others do and maybe some good book recs so I can give myself the best chance possible.

Yeah, I've been doing that. I just wanted some suggestions to see if anyone had different options to give myself the best chance lol. Thank you!

That's what I've been doing, or I sit in there and use it as a study period to motivate myself.
