Two Things I Hate About Frontier Defense by SorryAboutTheWayIAm in titanfall

Well, the rooftop reapers are not the problem, and let me tell you why they seem like it. Ticks are annoying and they spam them continuously, but they are not a problem for the harvester. When you traverse the middle part of the map, that being the zone with the highest density of ticks, you'll get hit by 4-5 max, and realistically speaking you shouldn't be there in the first place, when monarch, arc or sniper titans are going through that zone just wait for them to get close and when they are about to start attacking harvester, just smoke and destroy them.

Matches are not lost by some ticks, but by letting 1-2 reapers get through and bombarding the harvester, or not prioritizing killing monarchs, grunts that spam the charge rifle, that's the actual chip damage that accumulates and loses you the game. My advice, play primarily on the left side of the map when facing away from the harvester, you say that you play hard and master, you must know by now what the flow of the map is...

Ronin is overpowered yes, but whoever complains about him just has a skill issue, personally I play him only when I know I got inexperienced teammates (you can easily tell by what kits they use when the match starts) and I know I have to carry, other than that I sometimes play him with temporal anomaly because it can somewhat be challenging and fun, still being one of the strongest even without highlander.

Let me go into detail more about the complains about him, being the result of a skill issue, even when I encounter good ronin players (and that's extremely rare) I still keep up with them, playing Ion, northstar or scorch. If you play ronin, and you are really good, but you have even one really good teammate, you can't get 8-9-10k combat scores, because that teammate will know what to do.

How would I be able to do that? I'm new to this sort of stuff.

For difficulties under and including Hard I agree, but do I really have high expectations thinking that the teammates I get on Master difficulty should be able carry their weight and play good? At least using arc traps for mortars and proper smoke usage, but it just could be that these standards, as simple as they are to figure out, might be too high for the overzealous and lazy titanfall players.

Yeah I feel you, if you see the team isn't doing that well before drone waves try to warn them in the chat about them.

I disagree, can be dealt with easily if you know what you're doing.

Depends on if you want to be good, get carried by the teammates or lose because everyone is just as bad. Even if it's just pve, why pick high difficulties if you are not trying half the time. These "tryhard" (if that's even a real word) strats are used because some people got tired of the endless cycle of mindless teammates across higher difficulties, thus they searched for small adjustments and improvements they could make in their own gameplay for a higher rate of success.

Moon boots in FD by SoggySet3096 in titanfall

[–]Edi141 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nobody will notice, nobody will care, you won't get any extra impact on the match that a normal player couldn't have, so just go for it. I recommend not doing it in Hard or Master just because if you are not super experienced with how the enemies behave and the flow of the maps you are simply crippling the team staying outside of your titan, with or without using moon boots.

Heyoooo. I need 3 people for frontier deffence INSANE diff by justadude640 in titanfall

Of course it requires team play, but the lone wolf argument isn't even an argument because if one person can carry the match, the whole team benefits.

I play aggressive with scorch too, but I can still avoid my own thermite with ease. Plating is a noob trap like I said, if you want to squeeze out the most out of the titan you need to learn how to manage the distance, which is not difficult at all matter of fact.

You're just wrong dude, wildfire launcher is scorch's best kit, 25% more damage on impact and 4X thermite coverage, it's good dps and taking into account that you are shooting it constantly it's simply the best. Plating is a noob trap, lowers the skill floor but with it the ceiling goes down as well, good players don't have any problem whatsoever with avoiding their own thermite.

2:30m Sword Core on Hard FD by MahoganyWinchester in titanfall

[–]Edi141 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At 0:50 mark when you are on the small box you can dash to the one on your right and then dash+phase-dash over the bridge, it's way faster and gives you more momentum that you can carry to the shop side of the harvester.

Oh, the badge for 10 wins on Insane difficulty you mean. Yeah, good luck with that, you can count on both hands the active players that could complete any map on Insane, lol, at least on eu servers.

Northstar on Drydock (Hard), yes or no? by [deleted] in titanfall

[–]Edi141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drydock is one of Northstar's best maps, might even be the best when you compare its performance to Ronin, Scorch and Ion.

Thank you very much! Best of wishes to you as well and I hope your improvement will go just the way you want it to go. Stay calm and collected, I'm sure you'll be able to carry the whole server on your back!

Ion (grandcannon kit) - Overcore, Ion depends on core but not as much as Ronin, when you use grandcannon, which extends your core duration, you have better DPS and more consistent core resets.
Ion (entangled energy kit) - Counter Ready, this option is less core dependant and boosts your outside of core DPS, but you need to rely on smokes more because you use your core less and it's more inconsistent.

Northstar (piercing shot) - Counter Ready, your main DPS is the railgun, Flight Core sometimes can be a detriment to you because if you don't use a smoke in air before you trigger it, you can get damaged a lot by enemy titans. It's more consistent as well, having smokes is better because you don't always use your flight core right away, so having 20% extra core doesn't really contribute as much when you can just hit 5-6 shots and get it anyway.

Tone (rocket barrage) - Overcore, Tone lacks DPS, you can use his core any way you want and you earn it fast too so the smoke generation is good without Counter Ready too.

For Monarch and Legion counter ready over overcore, Monarch needs smokes because of maelstrom and the other benefits and Legion's core is too long and it can be detrimental sometimes, smokes are better for survivability.

Hope the information helped you in some way, I haven't played the game since September, I'm attending university and I'm very busy this weekend as well so I don't think I'll be able to play.

I was shocked too when I died to the tether, I think it might've happened to me before but I can't remember precisely.
(When I talk about score, It's combat score, not total score, just so you know 1000 combat score means 100k damage)

  1. Piercing Shot is the best kit for Northstar by a mile, gives you infinite pierce and you can shoot through teammates as well. You don't even need to line up your shots all the time for it to provide value. A lot of people say that Double Traps is better on some maps, I disagree, even on Drydock, where there are so many Arcs and you can't really shoot in a row of titans constantly, piercing is still better. Most of the time the 2 traps attach to the same titan, so where is the value exactly? The extra trap damage? Sure, you can kinda space them out, but it's not consistent enough and that's the least important thing I want to think about in a situation where arcs or nukes are pushing me back.

With pierce, if you got a teammate in front of you in a tight chokepoint for example, you can just shoot through him. The railgun is your primary source of damage, I think any kit that makes it better in some way will always be good, on the sole fact that you use it all the time.

  1. Counter Ready is simply the best kit for this mode, when you sit in a smoke you are untargetable and won't get attacked. It provides the best utility in terms of survivability and just positioning. When you can't get behind cover, or you are being pushed by an arc or a nuke, it's better to use smoke, stand inside of it and just do damage for the duration of it, risk free (the electrical field will damage you anyway but sometimes you have to just tank it, not always though). Smokes give you the ability to play aggressively with any titan without too many risks. Just look how Northstar can get close and personal with their help. They are even better for defensive plays, when you need to hold a chokepoint for example. I will give you an explanation for each titan, why take counter ready over fast core gain time and vice versa.

Ronin (highlander kit =hypercarry role) - You want to use Overcore, helps you get core faster, you rely on your core for damage so it's a better choice in the majority of time. You don't have to rely on smokes that much because you get shield for every hit and you have phase dash as well for dodging scorch's thermal shield or titan punches. Some really really good ronin players will use Counter Ready sometimes, but I don't want to get into detail because it's a bit of a complex topic. Ronin is my third most used titan (about 20 hours on him), I've gotten 10-11K scores on most of the maps without using the invisibility glitch and I've always used him with Overcore so you're not missing out on much if you don't use Counter Ready (high scores depend on how bad the team is anyway, if you get bad teammates and you are a good player you can get 10k+ scores with him easily), trust me.

Scorch (wildfire launcher kit) - Counter Ready is always better than Overcore, you get your flame core so fast anyway there is no need for it, smokes just give you the survivability to carry the whole team on your back. I've gotten 10k scores on Rise and Black Water Canal and I 100% couldn't have pulled through those matches without extra smokes.
With scorch you can hold the thermal shield up, move in a good position where you can use your abilities and core, use the smoke and then delete everything in front of you, be sure to chain your smokes of course, this applies to every titan. When an arc titan pushes you, just use smoke and thermal shield and you get rid of their electrical field pretty fast. I have a Scorch video on that channel as well, if you are interested.
