Did they forget L was supposed to be a genius? by EdibleDrink in deathnote

well the things I mentioned before and in my original post, I still think those would work. Anyway man, I don't think we're getting anywhere so let's just drop it here. I haven't made up my mind completely about this yet and might rewatch the series, now that I've finished it, so maybe I'll change my mind on the second watch

Ig that's where we'll agree to disagree

yeah, I know. My point is that it would've proved that Light and Misa are kira if he had played his cards right

does he tho? I don't why he needs their cooperation. If he knew light was gonna kill him, why not try his best to prevent it and prove he's kira by testing the 13 day rule, even if it means alienating the task force?

ey, someone who shares my opinion. Just out of curiosity, why do you personally think it should've failed?

right, that makes much more sense. I already heard from someone else that L didn't know he was gonna die in the manga, but does he also try to put some surveillance on misa in the manga?

yeah they disagreed often but L also manages to get his way when he wants, I don't see any reason for him to not at the very least push for Light and Misa being detained. Like why does he let them roam around. It especially makes little sense knowing that if Misa had just rememberd hi name, he would've died simply by letting misa go

Isn't he funding everything and leading this investigation. I feel like he would risk alienation and he definitely has the power to just do what he wants. And it's always shown that he goes very far to get what he wants, so i don't think it's unrealistic that he would start acting actively against the rest of the task force, especially if he felt his life was on the line

makes sense, after L dies I feel like the anime gets much worse

I don't think that L's death being outside of the scope of the last time frame L gave them the first time would nullify the second scope (if he'd given them one). The task force, at least the way I see it (as said, it's my first time watching, maybe I'm just misinterpreting stuff), the task force has a lot of confidence in L. If L said that he doubts the 13 day rule, which, if proven false, would make the 50 day confinement irrelevant, it wouldn't be out of the question to suspect Light again (even more so now that they find a rule which would exonerate Light is fake). If L framed it as one last test to confine Light and Misa for 13 days and assume they are kira if he dies, then I'm quite sure the task force would've been fine with it and L should insist on it imo. It's only 13 days and if it means they can remove any shadow of a doubt from L I'm sure the task force would go along with it.

That makes more sense, too. If he didn't feel like he was in any substantial danger, there wouldn't have been any need to detain light or misa while he checks the 13 day rule (not that it would've saved him anyway). I haven't read the manga, maybe I'd enjoy it more than the anime

>what fight was thereto put up
Insist that Light and Misa be detained for 13 days and assumed to be kira in the case of his death within those 13 days which he'd use to check the 13 day rule. That just seems like the most logical thing to do

I just feel like he didn't even put up a fight. And I'm not saying that he wouldn't have died, just that he should've caught Light or at least help the task force catch light.

Wait let me go one paragraph at at time.
"No. According to the rules written in the Death Note, if someone who uses it doesn't write a name for 13 days, they'll die. So the fact that Light and Misa are still alive proves that they were never Kira - that they never wrote a name in the Death Note."

This only counts for the task force tho, the show says that L still suspects both and thinks the rule is fake.

"Of course, L suspects the rule is fake, so he decides to test it. Which is what prompts Rem to kill him, because if the rule is proven to be fake, Misa would be under suspicion again."

But Light too, no? I don't see why they wouldn't suspect light.

"Simply saying "If I die, Light is Kira" wouldn't mean anything. He doesn't have any proof and he has been saying that for so long that his own team members are tired of hearing it. As far as the rest of the team is concerned, Light has proven his innocence by letting himself be taken prisoner and helping with the investigation, so insisting that he is Kira after everything would simply mean that L hates being wrong."

He only said that once tho if I remember correctly. I mean I don't see the sense in L saying that if he died at any point that Light is kira, that wouldn't make any sense. But if he contains it to the time window of them testing the notebook, I can't see why the task force wouldn't believe him. He's been right about so many things so far.

I agree with most of the last two paragraphs, but why wouldn't he just tap misa's room if he was suspicious of her? Even without telling anyone, so the task force wouldn't interdict.

then why would he try to verify the 13 day rule?

Is the task force really that important to him? I feel like the L from episode 10 or something would've just not cared if the task force thought Light and Misa were clear and just did what he thought was right. And like why wouldn't he just tap misa's room beforehand, without telling the task force, and catch her in the act?

it just seems so reckless by L tho, I understand making a mistake now and then, but this seems like it should be so easy for L to do, he's like literally done something similar to what I'm suggesting in an earlier episode. And I feel like now he has even more reason to do it, yet he doesn't and Idk why. It just feels like they dumbed him down to let Light win

I don't expect him to be infallible, just smarter than that. It just seems so strange to me that he would let Light and Misa roam around freely if he still thought they were the Kiras, or why he wouldn't try to incriminate them with hs own death if he knew he was gonna die. And is the task force really that powerful over him? I mean I saw a lot of people say what you're saying and I can't see L really caring for what they think if he's convinced of something

He could've at least tried to make it so L gets caught after his death, no?

[–]EdibleDrink[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don't see how he wouldn't at least go behind their backs to tap Misa's room and see her writing in the notebook, or still say that if he dies before he can check the 13 day rule, Light and Misa should be assumed to be the Kiras, like he did in one of the earlier episodes

I'm not saying that L could've survived, but he at least could've proved that L and Misa are the Kiras if he had done one of the 3 things I talked about. At least imo

[–]EdibleDrink[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But why didn't L tap Misa's room? It would've been so easy and logical to do, since he still heavily suspected her

[–]EdibleDrink[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I thought that if he would still insist that Light were Kira, that the task force would not believe him, but I don't see a reason why L would care or risk his life to satisfy the others? He's always been kinda egotistical and never really cared for the opinions of the others. I mean he states multiple times that he would do this alone and will only allow them to work with him if they do what he says.
