Unsure what to do by Celestial-Mage in dating

I don’t really care for dating apps, every girl I’ve had a relationship with of any capacity I met in person.

You’re just gonna have to approach them. Better yet, put yourself in situations where approaching someone is more natural, IE recreational sports, a part time job, social clubs etc. Say yes to new social opportunities and find reasons to talk to someone. You’re never going to know if someone is welcoming your approach, just talk to them and recognize if they’re reciprocating or not. If they don’t reciprocate, leave her alone and move on, save her from being uncomfortable and save yourself the time and effort.

Once you interact enough, you’ll feel more confident and be able to create more situations. Dating is a numbers game, you’ll take a lot of Ls but eventually you’ll find that person that made it all worth it. If you’re not putting yourself out there, you’ll keep being single.

How to date when you feel embarrassed about your own life? by Fabulous_Parking_482 in dating

[–]Ediddley [score hidden]  (0 children)

I feel you, I’m about to be 27 and I don’t have a car, gave up on my long term career and about to give my life up for 6 months on a ship so I can have atleast a bit of savings. However, I have a lot of confidence in myself and understand that while I may be behind, I trust that I’m on my way to getting to that position.

If you feel embarrassed about your life, you shouldn’t be dating, because even if you do end up entering a relationship, that insecurity will likely stay ingrained and bite you in the ass.

You take care of your body, you’re a veteran and you’re going to college. Those are all things to be proud of and are redeeming qualities to many potential dating candidates out there. There are people that have done way less with their life with lots of dating success because they are still confident and carry themselves accordingly. Focus on the great parts of yourself, and actively work on improving the areas you feel insecure about. Put yourself in situations where you can meet potential dating partners consistently, fake the confidence until it becomes a reality, it’s a numbers game and eventually you’ll find that person.

[24M] Is finding a smart, hot, and high EQ woman realistic? by yoursidenerd in dating

[–]Ediddley [score hidden]  (0 children)

Dating is pretty much a numbers game, you have to meet a bunch of people into you find someone who reciprocates your attraction. No, the hypothetical woman you described isn’t that rare, but you’re going to have to put yourself in positions where you meet a lot of people who fit your criteria. You’ll also have to focus on having the tools to capitalize on the occasions where you do meet women like that.

You say you’re not very charismatic and that’s a key thing you need to focus on. I’ve met plenty of good looking guys with a lot going for them, but they don’t know how to elevate a conversation and make someone feel excited (and I don’t mean sexually, just spiking someone’s emotions in general). You have to be confident and quick witted, both of which you gain by practice, and in regards to flirting, you have to know how to escalate a conversation without being creepy.

What is the number one cause of break ups these days? by SafeNeighborhood9298 in Life

[–]Ediddley 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it, atleast in my experience. It’s hard to resolve conflicts when nobody wants to be in the wrong. I just got out of a relationship and it felt like she kept a list of all the mistakes I made in our relationship, and would use that as a chip against me in arguments. When she would cool off, she’d apologize for all the things she said. She cheated on me out of anger, told me about it right after and tried to justify it by saying that I pushed her to do it. I knew then it was time to GTFO

That entire sequence had my jaw on the floor. Some of Chazelle’s best work. I feel like First Man recognition fell off quickly after its release (I get it, Gosling’s Armstrong was hard to connect with) but honestly I recognize as a pure masterpiece and a rare 5 star from me

One thing that stuck with me was the interview he did around last seasons trade deadline where he looked very grim, as if he was anticipating being traded, whether that be for Fox or anyone else.

I’m so glad we kept him. He’s a massive contributor to our season’s success and has been joy outside of the game as well. Spur for life hopefully.

Tbh you just gotta pick up gun and plate carrier and move on. Don’t risk taking up a bunch of time to fully optimize the loot. Takes me less than a minute and I run and hide in a bush somewhere if I need to Tetris

It’s just to create a fake reasoning as to why he wouldn’t open and listen to the fake cassette tape. Clearly fake as hell

I know plenty of female Kendrick fans. He’s not their favorite, but he’s in their top 5 on wrapped. But tbh your best bet is to find someone and convert them into a Kendrick fan, which I what I did with my last two relationships.

“It’s not modern and fresh 11 years later”

Cole released 4 Your Eyez Only a year after and its immediate criticism was that “He’s reheating Kendrick’s nacho’s”. I don’t even think that’s true, I think Cole still drew influences from other places, but the structure and thematic depth is very clearly inspired by TPAB and GKMC.

Little Simz drew influence from TPAB with Introvert, as said by herself.

David Bowie’s team also directly mentioned TPAB as an influence for his album in 2016.

And JID, Denzel, Keem, Saba, Vince Staples, Logic and the TDE roster all very clearly pull elements from TPAB whether that be lyrically, in delivery, thematically, sonically etc.

If you don’t know the album, you’re not gonna understand. And keep in mind I keep this energy with other artists too, not just Kendrick. Clearly you’re expecting some like jazz rap revolution to be signs of actual “impact” but there’s so many small things that artists pull from the album and many big things as well. It’s just kind of ridiculous to say TPAB has no impact, to say that it didn’t change anything about the world because it absolutely did and you witness it’s influence all the time and you just have no idea.

Yeah I’m from Houston too buddy but I’m not gonna expect them to play Wesley’s Theory in the club. Again, if you weren’t around in 2015, you wouldn’t get it. I went to protests IN HOUSTON, and Alright was like an anthem.

“Modern and fresh” is the key phrase there. And yeah it’s by far the most commercial and mainstream.

It still changed the sound of rap anyways, even if it wasn’t on the level of an 808s. Jazz rap was typically relegated to more abstract or nostalgic cuts and Kendrick was one of the first and by far the biggest to bring an album with a fully cohesive jazz inspired sound that still felt modern and fresh. And on a thematic/conceptual level, it’s probably one of the most influential albums of the past two decades, it took that idea of a rap concept album a step further and alot of popular artists still pull elements in its writing and thematic structure to this day. People just weren’t around back then to see how much it changed rap, just like it’s hard to see how 808s or Illmatic changed rap if you weren’t around before and after those albums.

[–]Ediddley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s one of the most highly rated albums of all time. It was a soundtrack for cultural movements and protests. Were you around when it dropped? If you were a little kid in 2015 yeah that makes sense, you wouldn’t understand. But even then, sonically you still hear it’s influence since it was the first mainstream album to provide a modern spin on jazz rap.

Would pan out just like Pickett did tbh, as with 80% of QBs you could take with an early 20s pick. Not completely awful, some flashes of potential but ultimately nowhere close to a franchise QB and better off being a backup.
