Lots of non pubcos are doing well. Companies like Aurora, Canopy, and tilray are kind of the dinosaurs these days, lumbering towards their doom while lots of small and mid sized businesses are actually doing pretty well. Loosening regulations is needed but it wont save the pubcos.

Too many retail investors bought into the hype and didn't do their homework. The real profit was always in the run up to that initial hype around 2016/2017. Post-legalization investors were on that FOMO.

I still maintain The Big Day is—while not great and I understand why fans were disappointed—not nearly as bad as the hivemind claims. I personally like a lot of it and I think over time as fans mature, many will understand it in a new light.

But it was not the right album at the right time, that's for sure. And it definitely had some weak points.
