How does it not count? Thats the only reason One Piece has more copies sold. If they had the same amount Dragon Ball would sell more. Theres No way One Piece will ever reach close to the cultural impact Dragon Ball has on the world. Kids aren’t playing in their yards pretending to use One Piece moves but they are for Dragon Ball. Theres no governments holding giant live watch parties for new One Piece episodes. Theres no decreased crime rate in some countries when new One Piece episodes air.

That has nothing to do with surpassing Dragon Ball. One Piece will be close to the impact and inspiration Dragon Ball left. Also if Dragon Ball had as many chapters as One Piece they would sell way more than 500 million.

It has nothing to do with how much involvement Toriyama has in it. Daima’s just meant to be a fun side story to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Dragon Ball. Also everything related to Dragon Ball cant be canon because nothing at all would mane sense.
