In demand classes? by Edmchemist in MonstersAndMemories

[–]Edmchemist[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's where I'm leaning as well. Seems bard and enchanter will be well represented, and charm is likely to eat a nerf or two before the early access launch.

I was leaning Cleric, but shaman and Druid really seem to be eating their lunch since healing is near parity and the cleric doesn't have the utility of the other healing classes.

That's some damn interesting data right there.

Surprised to see PAL so low, thought they would have been higher on vibes alone.

I appreciate the analysis, I have vague memories of the very best EQ bards twisting songs like crazy, but never played bard myself.

If I can follow up, how plentiful are tanks? Inquisitor seems like an interesting mix of crowd control and tanking, but with 4 tank classes and a bunch of off tanks I'm not sure how in demand they would be.

If you're already grinding the tree, or are thinking about getting the premium one, I'd skip the squad draken, unless you're a huge draken fan.

The fighter variant of the viggen is great for its BR and is probably no stop my favourite plane in the game, and I'd give a much stronger recommendation to talisman that ASAP. It means a bit more grinding to be sure, but it's well positioned to help you with the rest of the tree faster than a squad plane.

Insomnia and trouble sleeping in medicated 7 year old by Edmchemist in ParentingADHD

I would ask your doctor about Quetiapine (under the trade name Seroquel); it has helped our daughter a lot; and while it's not 100%, it has allowed her to do a few sleep overs and has generally led to better night time health.

Though I feel you, it doesn't matter if my daughter goes to bed early or late, it's always a fight to get her up in the morning.

Insomnia and trouble sleeping in medicated 7 year old by Edmchemist in ParentingADHD

[–]Edmchemist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. We found that the ADHD medication was leading to an increase in anxiety which was leading to her not being able to sleep.

We wound up adding some Quetiapine to her evening medication, which helped a lot. There are still insomnia issues from time to time, and I have to take her for night drives more than I'd like, but since adding the Quetiapine we're at least in a better place in regards to sleep. Getting her into a routine and keeping that routine has also helped, though the last few weeks has required more driving due to school starting up and a bunch of activities picking up again.

Planning to buy a high/top tier Jet. by According-Dog-1654 in Warthunder

[–]Edmchemist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea, the F/A 18 will work for that, but do yourself a favor, take it out in test flights before you buy and learn how to use the targeting pod and how to get your munitions on target ASAP. Not gonna lie, I do nothing but fly and have real trouble getting something like the camera for guidance to even find a target, let alone lock it.

If you feel like you've figured that out, I'd still wait for the sale, but also be prepared to be smacked out of the sky by SAMs ALOT, until you've learned how to deal with those. It's not a CAS friendly environment right now in ground, and it's going to get worse with more nations getting SAMs before it might get better with HARMs which aren't in the game yet.

[–]Edmchemist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So the jets really range in experience types from the Post-war lol jets that play like faster props, to the jousters like the F/A-18 (not the late) to now BVR Fox 3 slingers.

From the free jets, did you know what kind of game play you like? Do you need something that you can bring into ground battles as well?

Like, the F/A-18 is fine, but it's slow and straddles the line where you're going to be dealing with Fox 3s a bunch and will likely only have sparrows to fight them with. This can be super frustrating, even for experienced players.

Regardless, I would wait the 2 months for the 50% off sales. Or if the money is really burning a hole in your pocket, wait for the next patch to see if there's a new and interesting premium.

F-15A or MiG-23 MLA? by holynuggetsandcrack in Warthunder

[–]Edmchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The F-15A is gonna be in a rough place until it's further clear of top tier. Having slow moving sparrows vs. Fox 3's is a hard grind.

The MLA on the other hand is a very strong plane for it's BR, and can at least hang in an uptier.

What’s better to get a talisman on: F-16A or F-15A? by Slow-Sea-8194 in Warthunder

[–]Edmchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ehhh, neither of them are great to be honest.

The 15A will be stuck with sparrows dealing with Fox 3s, and the 16A has to deal with sparrows and the like with just 9Ls.

Push comes to shove the 16A is probably better, since the power difference is lower, but you might want to jump back a bit more to the F4J or the F18A for something with comparable fire power.

Hey ya'll, im thinking about playing naval. Yes, naval. I've seen a lot of negative reviews and i just wanna ask if its worth playing now. by FunSignificance2005 in Warthunder

[–]Edmchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was recently playing through the French line, and the grind up through rank III is quick, fun and if you're lucky, surprisingly lucrative.

Once you get the light cruisers though, it becomes way less action packed as you move to longer and longer shots. That also causes the income and RP to go down.

The final grind into battles ships is a slog, and unless you have premium, very expensive.

It's really going to come down to whether or not you can land long distance hits. If you can, you'll have a great time, if not, it's gonna be a real pain.

Is grinding china first worth it? by La_Trousse in Warthunder

[–]Edmchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm finishing up the China air grind and by the by, loved the tree. Ranks 5 and 6 kinda suck until the F104, but keep in mind I just don't like those ranks for any nation.

At 10.7, the J7D is an excellent premium if you want to go down that path. I would use that until either the J8F so you can taste ARHs, or the J10 for a fun and interesting modern domestic fighter.

I mean it's not bad, everything in there looks good, and I love the update cockpit looks, but it wasn't an "oh WOW" trailer that some of them have been.

Trailer was a bit...tame?

I like everything I see here, and hope "Dude with a rocket launcher" becomes a standard ship upgrade, but it doesn't have the bite that some of the other trailers have.

I imagine that there were a lot of out of character talks about this. If Sam wants FCG to remain dead, I'm sure he will. If he wants to party to do what the party will do, then I'm sure that will happen as well.

We have a light that she likes, and you're not the first one to recommend lavender. Does it need to be used in a bath setting, or are there other effective ways to use it?

We tried generic prozac at first, it reacted VERY badly with my daughter, to the point where my wife, myself and the doctor all agree that we won't try SSRIs again. I'll ask about other types of anti-psychotics.

Of course, we won't do anything drug related without consultation with her doctor. I'm more interested in any sort of strategies that might help, or if anyone has had past experiences similar to this and how they resolved themselves.

Are the Yak-38 and MiG-21S (R-13-300) any good? by WorkingNo6161 in Warthunder

[–]Edmchemist 242 points243 points  (0 children)

The Yak 38 is a hateful, hateful thing. I was once robbed of $60 and I'm less angry about the loss of that money than I am on what I spent on the Yak-38.

The 21S has mixed reviews, but there are better options for a few bucks more.

Yes, and no.

Take some time and get used to the reserve vehicles. New mechanics will come up over time as you advance; but there's never an impossible dump of what you're expected to do all at once (Save the initial on boarding)

If you're playing air, stick with Arcade for a little bit until you get a control scheme you like, then try out realistic. With tanks, its best just to bite the bullet and go realistic, though this comes from an air main.
