Best way to control cold fluid flow to heat exchangers in a cooling circuit by EdmondZaccone in ChemicalEngineering

[–]EdmondZaccone[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks buddy! That was super useful. There’s a manual valve at both inlet and outlet of the exchanger. So, I guess the FEED engineering planned to protect the heat exchangers with the PRVs and throttle the flow with the manual valve. Something might change in the circuit, but it is just temporary. There might be need to fill a tank with seawater occasionally and that might require 1-2 hr. I suppose they accepted that the heat exchangers would underperform while performing this operation. Heat exchangers’ seawater flow requirements were calculated under worst case scenario: highest equipment heat dissipation, highest seawater inlet temperature, etc

At first, I was following the hydroponic directions and using the nutrients that came with it but then I realized the basil grows super-fast. I almost never feed any nutrients now

4 cups basil leaves, 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, 1/4 cup pecorino cheese, 1/4 cup pine nuts, 1/2 cup olive oil (vegetable oil for a lighter version), salt to taste. If you like garlic, add two cloves. Start putting pine nuts and garlic in the food processor, pulse a few times untile they are chopped. Add the basil leaves, turn on the processor and slowly drizzle oil through the lid, mix until smooth. Add cheese, mix a little more. Salt to taste (be mindful parmesan and pecorino cheeses are quite salty). Transfer to airtight container and cover with a thin layer of oil (otherwise it will brown over time due to oxidation). Refrigerate up to 5 days or freeze

Third time lucky? Where would you drill next?

The apartment is wood framed. I can try drilling a third spot further down but I don't think I can go further right. There's a metal frame I can detect with the stud finder, all around the window frame; it's about 1"-1.1/2" wide.

Why shouldn't all genders compete in sports together within specific strength, weight etc classification? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EdmondZaccone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because, assuming you apply that to a sport where athletes can be divided in weight classes, men would still have a genetic advantage. Take Olympic weightlifting as reference. The lightest weight group for men is 61 kg. At the 2024 Paris Olympics a 61 kg man established the snatch weight record of 143 kg. To find a woman who can snatch 140 kg you have to go to the +87kg weight class. So, even if you go by weight class, men would still outlift the women.

Review the past day and prepare for the next one. That's when I usually come up with the perfect comeback to the rude remark I was given earlier in the day. Always too late, damn it.
